They just sound so cheap and thin to me. The synths just sound boring and the drums legitimately sound like cheap stock drums that come with a daw

the pharrell side besides open air and neck and wrist had some of pharrells weakest beats hes ever made
they all have the exact same drums

Interesting you say this because I noticed Pharrell is using the same exact drums on like 5/6 of the beats on here but he pulls it off so good somehow imo. The rhythms he pulls off on here with them are soooooo 2000 in a good way

I honestly feel like the “stock” and “thin” critiques is too easy of a critique to make, when I could easily say the same about most classic Neptunes beats if I wanted to, they’re all stock sounds and relatively thin and repetitive too. But for me the P magic is still there.

I almost feel like it’s one of those things where if you’re a producer and have more of an idea “how the sausage is made” then you tend to over a***yze where the sounds are coming from and not just enjoy it. The energy on these just goes crazy and is very nostalgic. Also let’s at least say that Neck and Wrist isn’t thin
