I’m just trying to gauge how “bad” it was for him to meet with Trump, it’s just contradictory because don’t we want world peace ultimately? You gotta talk to the bad guys if you wanna do that or eradicate them which takes out the whole “peace” part lolthis is a very complicated topic. Trump was positioned and backed once reactions to his campaign were pretty expectedly higher than 2000. The post Obama world was ripe full of conservative crackpots waiting to jump on the next populist out of sheer hate through underground and ignored sections of the internet that weren’t controlled as social media grew. Russia could see that they could manipulate Trump into their fold, which they apparently may have done due to their debts with Deutsche Bank and their multiple continuous financial losses. The fact that they got a whole presidential term out of it is just a testament to how outdated our politics are. Overall, the way that we know Russia is connected to Trump right now means that Russia had him in their fold the entire time and acting with their benefit at least somewhere in mind. Maybe they had blackmail, maybe they wanted to cover debts, idk i haven’t read that bit.
