    Currently got my hair in these twists(did them by hand) ultimately my goal is to get locs. would putting gel (Tropical Roots) on these twists work and how do i apply the gel. thanks in advance.

    yes! i actually started with 2 strand twist to get locs. i started with the mango and lime loc gel, then switched over to murray's loc gel. i would say go for murray's

    i don't do my own hair tho, one of my friends retwists my locs every month or so

    Yes you can use lock gel. I started out with this, but eventually switched to Shae Butter, Honey and lemon juice.

    As for how to apply it. You just make sure your hair is damp, apply the gel, twist your hair, then apply some hair pins to each dread/twist

    (Ik this is a pic of dreads but it’s the exact same process)

    After you put the hair pins on you need to dry it. Preferably heat dry but you can air dry too (I don’t like it)

    Do this like once every two weeks I think? Eventually your hair will lock up, turning into dreads.
