One of my favourites of last year but I can’t help but think that Tarantino could’ve done & pushed this story way further than it went
5/5
Rewatched again today and was reminded to post something (I didn’t back when it first released to avoid spreading spoilers)
But anyone else catch the Inglorious Basterds reference? For one the fact Cliff is a stuntman, the same pretend role he gave himself in IB
But also Antonio Margheriti is the fake Italian name they used in IB for the “film maker” but it’s also the name of an Italian director in once upon a time
The QT universe continues

Antonio Margheriti is an actual Italian director who directed several B-movies so it comes full circle

Basically how I felt each time.. It was entertaining but I couldn't stop thinking about how much greater the story could have/should have been, especially for Tarantino.
Then you think about Pulp Fiction, which also has like no story, but it's execution and how it all ties together and the themes are much better and tone also feels way more grounded in reality. I love Kill Bill, IB, Django, which are cartooney at times, I can't help but feel Hateful Eight and OUATIH are extremely outside any realm of reality to where it turns me off to it a bit.
OUATIH tried at times to stay real and enraging but as soon as Leo started over acting like crazy and they start smashing the girls face in the wall I got completely taken out of it and didn't care about these guys like I would the characters in his other movies. I don't know how to really explain it well... But hopefully someone can relate.
Isn’t he doing Star Trek next?
He writing it but I'm talking bout his own film

I agree. He beautifully rebuilt 1969 Hollywood and was so authentic with that time period down to the minute details all for a day in the life type buddy movie just seemed a bit underwhelming.
Don’t get me wrong, even that was a privilege to watch watch and not every movie needs to be over the top but, the entire Manson backdrop and classic Hollywood felt so vast in comparison to the on set scenes from Leo.
I thought Cliff meeting the Manson girl early on would tie in a bit more cleverly rather then him just remembering Tex at the end.
Regardless though it’s a great watch and one of my favourite Tarantino’s of all time, s*** made me buy a ticket to LA the minute I walked out the theatre.

It’s literally a fairytale
First Tarantino movie ever I have genuinely absolutely no interest in rewatching even once and I hate to see it 😞
It’s gotten better with every rewatch for me

This!! I really do love this movie. Obviously the shock value of the ending isn’t there anymore but I still love it none the less
Just rewatched this since it was in theatres and this fool QT did a flashback within a flashback. Pretty sure that’s against the rules
