I don’t even know what his questionable politics are. He supports free health care, likes guns but agrees with reasonable restrictions, is a bit confused by the rapidly changing narratives on the gender stuff, and is for free speech. Idk that sounds like most working class Americans whether they lean more towards the left or right. There’s a reason Bernie Sanders went on his show and was able to win over a good chunk of his audience. Hate to break it to people but most normal non chronically online human beings have messy complicated politics that don’t fit neatly into an organized ideology. Go into a bar and listen to people’s conversations, it’s not a Wikipedia summary of a belief system.

book spoilers...so there's a chapter that dives into how Cliff first got Brandy and it's pretty dark...a buddy of his owed him 3200 bucks or something like that and shows up at his trailer one day without the money but has Brandy in a cage...tells Cliff she's worth 20 grand easily if they use her for dogfighting...Cliff goes along with it but eventually Brandy gets injured pretty bad...the buddy then suggests for her last fight they bet AGAINST Brandy since she'll likely lose and get killed...Cliff attacks the guy in his trailer and breaks his neck...just ditches the guys body and car somewhere and never hears about him again...one of the alarming things of the novel so far is that a) Cliff is a bigger film buff than the movie lets on and b) he's kind of unlikeable in the book at least so far and comes across like a total psycho...also a chapter where P\*\*\*\*cat (the Manson girl) breaks into an old couples house and hops in their bed naked just to scare the s\*\*\* out of them at Charlie's behest
My bad y’all rewatching again haha
no need to apologize...I'm due for a rewatch too tbh but will prly wait until I finish the novel so I can watch it with all the additional backstories fresh in my mind to offer a slightly different perspective on things

basically lol there's a bit where they talk about Cliff and Rick first getting to know each other...Rick (to understand killers more for his acting roles) asks Cliff what it's like to kill someone and how many people he's killed...Cliff has to think about it but says he killed like 12-16 (don't remember the exact number) Japs in the war with a knife...describes what it feels like to stab and kill a man then suggests Rick buy a pig and gut it to death while hanging onto it...Rick doesn't do it but contemplates it before weighing all the different hilarious scenarios that could go wrong just like Rick Dalton would do :hah: I'm not doing it justice tbh the conversation is morbid as f\*\*\*
