I was working in an office job making 60k a year. I hated sitting all day but it was reliable and fed the family.

I recently decided I want to be more active. I decided to quit my job for Amazon warehouse, which was hiring in my area for $23/hr and a $3000 bonus.

Amazon Warehouse doesn’t even interview you or anything. You apply then go to an appointment to take a d*** test and do a background check, as long as those clear you got the job. I was all set to start Friday, or so I thought.

While waiting for the results for those I noticed last night that it said there are no shifts available, and removed my ability to see my next steps for once my background check cleared (training videos and ordering work boots).

Looked it up and this is apparently a very common occurrence and Amazon has recently pulled a lot of job offers and deleted listings as they prepare for a possible recession next year. I can see my checklist still but only via an email link they had sent before, so I know my background check and d*** test are good.

Amazon hasn’t even sent an email saying my start date was pulled or anything.

I have enough savings to last 6 months but I’m the primary source of income for my wife and two kids. This situation is so f***ed.

Sometimes you gotta make sure the next job is lined up before you quit the current one.
Hope you learned that lesson here and now

Office job probably had cute little office parties and people brought bday pastries or just randomly brought doughnuts. Office job may have covered a gym membership and provided more room for growth.

Better download Uber eats, Amazon flex, DoorDash or whatever to hold you over.

I mean at literally any other job I’ve had, having a start date is as good as lined up as you can get.
