I mean at literally any other job I’ve had, having a start date is as good as lined up as you can get.

    True

Better download Uber eats, Amazon flex, DoorDash or whatever to hold you over.

    Ain’t no Amazon flex either.

I will probably DoorDash for a little while but I just bought a new car and I don’t want to rack up a ton of miles on it.

i feel like having a sedentary job but being active outside of that is better than a labor intense job. but that’s just me

I dont understand how stuff like this happens honestly

Like why would you quit a job without having signed the contract for the next job?

Like you need that s*** on paper

I signed some paperwork just not the offer letter yet. I gave my two weeks at the office and they said my notice to quit was accepted and sent me home that day.

so let me get this straight:

    • you left the job feeding your kids and family,
    • for a lesser paying job, that would probably be more stressful
    • without having the back up job completely secured

.... just because you hated sitting all day?

10k pay cut but increased benefits

I promise I'm not trying to talk down to you: what benefit did Amazon offer that your office job didn't, thats equivalent to $13k a year

Pretty much. But when you compare the benefits it wasn’t really a pay cut. Plus Amazon is 4 ten hour days so having the extra day off would have been nice to spend with the kids.

As far as not being completely secured, Amazon is the only company I’ve ever heard of that removes your position after you’ve accepted the job and done your tax forms so that one’s not really on me.

Better insurance, higher 401k match, and fully paid bachelors degree.

Dog Amazon would have worked the dog s*** out of you to the point that you wouldn’t have the energy to invest in your kids on that day off. Do you not realize how taxing manual labor is on the body? It’s not a cake walk.
