should i watch this or Stalker tonight

Ran is the easier watch out the two, helps that it’s very appealing to the eye. Stalker is definitely not something I’d go for on a Friday night my g lol, especially if you’re not familiar with Tarkovsky’s work (not to say you aren’t). Great films though

Stalker is better but both are good

u should watch all his samurai films. ugetsu too (not a kurosawa film) if u haven't seen. ran is good but not my favourite
superior colors in this transfer
I still dont really love them. they went SO hard in the opposite directions with the colors in comparison to the other transfers

The previous Blu-Ray transfer wasn't great quality. So this new 4k release is a new transfer (they took the film rolls and made new scans, new clean-up) which means they have to do new color grading (mixing the levels of the colors).
This new release is noticeably different from the old ones. Some people love it some don't. Some don't care at all.And it#s not like the old one is inherently better anyway
In any case you NEED to pick the new 4k remaster because the picture quality is so so much better. I'm betting you will have no idea what I was talking about anyway because you only notice the color differences if you've looked at the old release which you obviously haveN't as it's your first time watch so it's all fine.
