I mean... it’s a good album, but for the most part it’s unremarkable. There’s no real cohesion or flow to the tracklist due to the sequencing, random features (though none are necessarily bad individually), and sonic mismatching. For example, compare the two disco-inspired, Pharrell-featuring tracks to the orchestral flourish at the beginning of Beyond (which goes nowhere) to the cinematic climax of Contact. That’s not to say that great albums can’t be varied stylistically, but it just doesn’t work well here imo.
Plus it’s hard to consider this as a standout from the decade when most of the album pays homage to sounds of the 70s and 80s. With all of that being said, Touch is one of my favorite songs from the decade.
good post but i feel you album always sounds like its going nowhere
Nah, its pretty great. I really don't get the people calling it overrated lately. I wore the f*** out of that album.
Altho in all fairness to my post Beyond or that Mother song, I can’t recall at top of my head I think it’s the Mother one with the orchestra s*** is SO bad and the Fragments song is some real dad yatch vibes some of the worst Daft Punk material right there if we keepin’ it 100
Not even top 100.
What I was talking about Ram fam lol
