op similar thing happened to me sophomore year except we were on opposite sides of the classroom and end of class as i'm leaving she starts talking to me for like ten minutes bout the class and how much the professor sucked. hit it off pretty well and i was like "damn i should've asked for her number. i'll do it next class.

A week before COVID hit I was in a college class and there was this cute girl I went to middle school and HS with and she also sparked up a conversation with me over a milkshake from the local cafe

Trust me, she'll respect you a lot more if you just straight up ask her. Even if the answer is no. I've fumbled plenty so many pretty women because I tried to be her friend first. Then they tell me months/years later that they were into me but I was "too slow"
Had a girl I was working with, we were vibing for like 2 months but I was hesitant to make a move because we worked together. Would be awkward if I said something and she rejected me. Even if she said yes, Idk what dating someone you work with looks like. Eventually I get the balls to ask her out, she says something like "We'll talk" and then just doesn't bring it up again. Which in my experience, is a no but the girl doesn't want to outright reject you. A few weeks later, she tells me that she met someone and they spent all night talking on the phone
Few weeks after that, I'm talking to her close friend at work. She tells me that the girl was into me, mentioned that I asked her out but this other guy asked her out just the day before I did

As long as you approach her like a normal human being, there's nothing awkward about shooting your shot with a girl you barely know and getting rejected
Besides OP is attracted to her - why should he settle for being the friend in class she gets notes from because he doesn't want to "make it awkward" It's college, plenty of other women he can talk to if it's a no from her. He doesn't even have to talk to her again

So I sit in the same place each class and today a dime who normally sits near me asked if she could sit beside me, then she just randomly started talking to me. Told me she saw me in one of her other classes and kept our conversation going for like 20mins. She also told me I was very smart and we would both be successful in life.
Am I crazy for wanting to push this further? She was so nice and had an amazing personality. This is the second time a girl has asked to sit beside me, start a conversation, and engage with me. The last time this happened I didn’t really take advantage of it when the girl was trying to keep the conversation going.
This time I got her name but I didn’t get her number or IG. When I see her again how do I build a friendship? I feel like it would be weird to ask for her # after just meeting her lol.
