I think there’s an element of people starving for any semi decent Hip-Hop music when looking back at 1999 or other blog era Rap from NYC. It was cool back then, but it was still seen as a little dusty and retro-boom bap even in 2012. I feel like Griselda filled that hole in the 2020s.
