rick rubin has been around since the dawn of hip hop, back in a time where the term “producer” meant something completely different

Before hip hop and the “beat maker” existed, producers were basically coaches. George Martin produced all the Beatles songs but only played an instrument on a few songs for example. Before hip hop and beat making the producer wasn’t what it often is today. The job was to guide the artists and bring the best out of them

Niggas be beat makers not producers. Some of these rappers produce their songs more than the niggas that make the beats.
