I’m in the 3rd act of it and honestly it reads like a movie even if the beginning is a bit slow
Anybody else here read it?
I tried to read it forever ago and wouldn’t mind trying again. Is there anything that wasn’t in the movie that you would have liked to see included in hindsight? How do you feel about the film adaptation overall at this point?
The book was actually written as a screenplay to begin with
I enjoyed it but don't really remember much, I do recommend the lost world if you enjoy this though

Yeah there’s a few parts involving the T. rex that don’t happen in the movie that would have been good to include. Also they changed Hammonds character a lot. His character in the book made more sense than the movie honestly but I liked both a lot. The kids switching ages in the book was good too as led was the whiny one and Tim was the older one and knew a lot about dinosaurs

Hammond’s kind of more sinister in the book, right? Not sure why they swapped the ages of the kids but I read that they made Lex the techno wiz just so both characters would have something to contribute to the plot.

He is. He dosent really care about the children or the precautions of the park just wants money. And yeah that’s literally the only thing lex brought to the movie lol

Yeah, she’s just kind of screaming and getting sneezed on for two hours, haha. She’s the MVP of that kitchen scene, though.

I despised Hammond in the book and found lex annoying (to be fair she’s written like a true 7 year old)

Oh wow! Definitely let us know what you think. I don’t think I know anyone who read the book before they saw the movie.

Enjoy that its a great film

For me yes, its been awhile but from what I remember the lost worlds plot is unique compared to its movie adaptation and is a little bit different from the rest of the series. A little more character focused

It was dope it was lowkey a perfect adaptation of the book with less of the fat.
Felt the kids were way less annoying in the movie and liked that Hammond wasn’t a full on d*** head

How’d you feel about Malcolms character opposed to the book and him living?

I liked him in both versions, though his role seemed smaller in this film. They definitely toned down how scathing his view of Hammond and his type which was unfortunate. I also liked that he lived was disappointed his character didn’t make it in the book
You gonna start Lost World? I think I read that Crichton kind of rushed that one out so they could adapt it.

I borrowed this from a friend so odds of me checking out lost world are rather low tbh, do you think it’s better than the first book?

Oh, I haven’t read any of that one, that’s just what I’d read, that it was written so they could make another movie. The second film isn’t as good so I’m sure the book isn’t either.
