man ive been on the internet so long I remember all types of people trying to discredit illmatic songs. dudes start from 'yeah Represent is kinda weak' and end up at 'actually ny state of mind is kinda overrated'. Im not exaggerating. so many rap tourists in the 10s who's first rap album was mbdtf like you wouldn't believe

it was tough a few years back. a lot of those people would then turn around on that album to talk about how rick ross says nothing in his verse, how hov has a bad verse, how lost in the world is bad, who's raekwon, yadda yadda yadda. im pretty sure these people listen to pop and indie music now

LAD has higher highs but it's highkey less thematically cohesive than RTD which makes it feel more like a "Biggie's Greatest Hits" album than a concept album like RTD.

RTD told a story that you could follow. LAD was like a mix between a more polished RTD with the street themes and a Bad Boy shiny suit album.

Both classics though.
