The thing with Drake is that he can't make "bad music." The worst thing you can say about a Drake song/project is that it isn't great but it will definitely be good and when you compare the quality of his music to the rest of the game, even his worst songs are better than the best songs most rappers will give you. That alone should tell you the level he plays at and the crazy high expectations people have for him whenever he drops anything.
The problem with people is they can never just say "oh, this Drake album is just okay" and leave it at that. It always has to be the worst thing he's ever dropped. People said that about Views then Scorpion and now CLB and after time passed, they all changed their opinions on those albums.
People feel like once they play a Drake song and they don't like it or it doesn't connect with them, it's absolute trash and they only do that with him. Same people are the ones who will keep playing those songs and eventually change their opinions after some time. You'd think that after doing that for so many years, there'd learn to give him the benefit of the doubt and allow themselves some time to sit with his music before running off with the hot takes but they never learn.
Everyone is saying CLB is the worst thing he's ever made now like there are 3 other rappers in Drake's class right now that can give you an album that good. 2 years from now, it'll be "CLB is actually a very good album" takes everywhere. That's why I don't even listen to any criticisms on Drake's music. Y'all just love repeating what y'all hear other people say. One critic says something and everyone else runs with it like sheep.

It’s hard to compare Drake’s music to other classic rap albums or anything else. He’s like, the only rapper/singer hybrid. There’s a lot of casual fans that only like his rap songs, and then you have the fans that only like his pop s***. Everybody’s favorite songs are going to be different for every album, because he touches so many audiences. For me, damn near every song is hitting. I f***ed with Donda, but it hasn’t gotten much from play since CLB dropped. I’m not just bigging him up because everyone’s dropping mid, I just legitimately love the album.

I think there's an undeniable classic between those ~40 songs, he just can't structure a project in that cohesive style like TC and NWTS era anymore. Now every project is a bloated playlist album to appeal to everyone. Which is fine and why we won't ever have a "bad" Drake album, but is probably the reason we will never get a classic along the lines of TC or NWTS ever again (from him). He's playing a different game now.

Sep 28, 2021Drake just keep adding dope songs to his catalog and that's an amazing thing to do as an artist. To me, that's his consistency. It's not about what album is better or whatever. If you play Drake's catalog on shuffle, you'll have a great time and hell of a ride
