Yup!
Between the soul samples and mature esthetic (button up shirts, polos, skinny jeans) he forced hip hop to grow up.
Pac - Me Against The World, All Eyez on Me, 7 Day Theory
Nas - illmatic, it was written, stillmatic, lost tapes, god's son, life is good

College Dropout was a game changer...
i think there's legit arguments that ye's first 6 are all classics
but imo nothing after yeezus deserves that recognition
1 - All Eyez on Me
1 - Illmatic
2 - Reasonable Doubt , Black Album
1 - MBDTF
some people are being too generous but you're being too stingy
7 day theory and blueprint are both universally recognized classics

I saw a volume 2 in here 😂
I know this is subjective, and that might be somebody favorite Hov album but it’s far from a got damn classic
I would like to know what yall on calling tlop a classic
People just have very different ideas of what a classic means lmao. I wouldn't call anything from 2016 a classic yet (except maybe Blond) but I could also see tlop being considered a classic in a decade.

You mean "Unfinished (the album)"

i think there's a difference between universally recognized classics vs a personal classic
to the biggest Kanye fan in the world, who am i to tell them that JIK isn't a classic? if its a classic to them personally, so be it. but that's a one in a million who believe that, nobody outside of Ye fans will say it is
but there are albums like 7 Day Theory, All Eyez On Me, RD, BP1, Illmatic, etc - those are all universally recognized classics. whether or not you like those albums, they are classics. you can hate illmatic with all your soul, its a classic no matter what.
that's really what i was referring to with "i think there's legit arguments that ye's first 6 are all classics" - there's legit arguments that ye's first 6 are all universally recognized classics

I respect that, those albums are classics but 7 Day and the Blueprints never really resonated with me.
If I was really stingy tho, I would remove Reasonable Doubt just because I feel like my judgement is being clouded by nostalgia. The Black Album tho just aged like fine wine man.
Illmatic, MBDTF, All Eyez and Black Album are all timeless man.

it's a personal classic for me but i don't think that's the general consensus
MATW, AEOM, 7 Day Theory

How are we rating other artists from the early-mid 2000s
T.I.
Ludacris
Rick Ro$$
Lupe Fiasco
The Game
Young Jeezy
I’ve seen Cole, Ye, Drake, and Kendrick’s names thrown around here but the mid 2000s artists had strong eras with impactful music
Are we glossing over their contributions?
