theres prolly a few clowns on here who dont support it

I rlly wanna hear from them bc the only arguments I’ve heard from people seem to be talking points from health insurance funded politicians, and this issue seems to best exemplify the divide between the will of the people and politicians who are beholden to their donors above all else

    Yup

I live in Canada which is one of the few western countries that actually has a medicare for all (meaning a nationalized insurance system where private insurance is banned for care already offered in public system) and it works amazing. Only difference is that bernies plan called for dental and hearing to be covered which arent in our medicare4all system so people get insurance just for those services but no other care.

I’m sympathetic to the people say what about other Universal systems like germany. But biden isnt even offering that. In Germany the care u get is equal, only difference is it’s facilated through yr employer and if yr unemployed you still get the same exact healthcare as the employed. Biden is offering a two tiered system and people are so disingenuous on this. Meaning the employed folks w good jobs will have all the good services and poorer folks will be unloaded on an under founded public system. No comments on if things like dental would be even covered

I’m for healthcare for all, but there should also be private options if people choose.

For example, Medicare for all can cover all life saving procedures / essential things for people

And if people want private health care that covers non essential things like massages and s***, they should be able to purchase that

  • Aug 2, 2020

Then watch in ten years when reports on how the public system is disproportionately minority utilised with less than ideal outcomes these smooth brained liberals will start launching task forces to “investigate” this absurd inequality like what did you think would happen idiots

One of the proponets of Canada’s medicare4all system really wanted that caveat of duplicate care not being able to be bought, so in other words no gold plans for the rich and his reason was, i s*** u not, something to the effect of a fabric of society can not withhold such obvious displays of inequality? This was some old white guy in the 60s!

And he’s right the duplicate care piece is something that is just incapatible in a country with already rampant inequality like america. It will become just another institutional vestige that we “wonder” how it became a symbol of discrimination in 10 years. So depressing

That’s not what biden is offering tho, what u said was bernies plan

What he wants is basically unprecedented in the developed world

He wants a non comprehensive under funded public system then private employer based gold plans to still be available

Australia for example has private insurance legal for duplicate care but their public option is fully funded through taxes by all so it’s EXTREMELY comprehensive so people only end up using private plans for maybe elective surgeries, dental and things like that

That’s the common thread in countries w non medicare4all systems like canada or fully socialized healthcare like UK.

You absolutely NEED the public option to be comprehensive and paid by all thru a progressive tax rate REGARDLESS

This topic jus makes me mad man sorry Bcus people really just deserve dignity in their health smh

i think this would be a disaster. insurance companies would then be able to push unhealthy people or those with pre-existing conditions into the public option and only offer insurance services to healthy people. and fewer people opting in for the public option would make it much more, unnecessarily expensive.

the market just doesn't belong in some things... and that includes healthcare

He said private insurance would only cover non essential (voluntary) procedures which is essentially Bernie’s plan

You’d only need private supplemental insurance for plastic surgery, gastric bypass, and other elective procedures
