They’ve spent the last two decades fearmongering about Russia in US media. They literally accused the last president of being a Russia spy
They’ve only been more aggressive to China once it became an economic threat
Russia also became anti-communist and pro capitalist which is also why US relaxed tensions a bit. They still get/got vilified in American media for years so I’m not sure where the “they don’t get flack comes from”
