They're gonna hate on you itt but it's facts. Skyrim and FO4 were a big step back from Oblivion and FO:NV in storytelling and actually being a f***ing RPG lol.

I'm afraid these upcoming games are gonna be bland action-adventure games instead of Bethesda going back to their roots, but I hope I'm wrong.

You said CD garnered hype for cyberpunk with their Witcher games, I’m saying people shouldn’t have gotten hyped because CD borrowed a lot from the Witcher books so it doesn’t act as a good reference point for writing in CD’s future games. Hence why when they wrote the cyberpunk story themselves it didn’t match the quality of Witcher at all

Hype for ES6 makes sense because morrowind, oblivion, skyrim are all universally praised and Bethesda wrote it all themselves

My conspiracy theory is that both Rockstar and Bethesda are so scared of flopping their next release that they keep pushing the dates hoping the other one releases theirs first.

Also will be interesting to see the attention to detail for black characters

What I'm trying to say is that Skyrim was released a decade ago and since then they haven't shown anything decent. They've now shown, what, Starfield? Which pretty much looks like a snoozefest after six whole years of development. I'm not even going to go into Skyrim personally being a complete letdown after Oblivion since that's a personal opinion. There's very little to really be excited about until they show something super concrete.

And while CDPR did have the books as a source, they're completely different in writing, plot, and even characters. No one cared about the books outside of Eastern Europe until CDPR took their stab at it. The writing is practically all CDPR's.

My man, you are straight up not reading what I'm saying. I've read the books as well, and I literally said they borrowed from the books, but CDPR's writing and plot is very different from Sapkowski's (and worse, imo. I can see why he was miffed people didn't care about the books). Geralt alone is completely different in the books than he is in the games, and the stories don't even take place during the same timeframe.

And I can literally see Starfield's gameplay. We've seen what Starfield has to offer, at least its core content and gameplay. The game is quite literally releasing next year. There is straight up nothing for ES6. This isn't the gotcha you think it is.

Things that are difficult to write like the world, the concepts, etc. were copied. Changing aspects of certain characters isn’t huge.

We’ve seen a few minutes of gameplay of a 100+ hour game, you and me both have no idea how good it’ll be when it launches

Not to mention it was surface level gameplay just previewing a few systems lol it’s not like we even know what a single mission will be about yet

Nothing wrong with being cautious with game releases with so many games being released in unfinished states. There is no way you have no idea why people are so negative about video games right now; don’t pretend

I’m not saying its not okay to be excited about upcoming video games, it is. But Bethesda IS one of those companies that has released a game in one of these unfinished states and turning a blind eye to that is just dumb. You have no way of knowing they won’t do that again. Whether different teams worked on the game doesn’t really matter; at the end of the day they decided to release a game they knew wasn’t finished
