i'd say they're brainwashed like most conservatives are brainwashed tbh. they blindly follow tradition for the sake of comfort and a false sense of security.

this is my belief too. except as we've seen over the course of thousands of years, humans en masse cannot simply worship privately and non-intrusively. they force their belief systems onto other people, going to the extent of killing each other. that's ridiculous, and negates any positives that religion can bring to the table.

belief in god honestly isn't even tied to religion necessarily. all the dumbass rules and supposed things god said or did is religion. i consider myself an agnostic atheist, i do think there is a greater existence out there than what i can immediately perceive. i just don't let that idea control my life, and i don't force it onto anyone else.
