    FINALLY rolled credits on this

Great RE game. Of the recent games, I’d rank it over 8 and 7. Although it’s close to 7

I enjoyed Graces parts way more than Leon’s from a horror perspective, but Leon’s parts were really fun too

Tomorrow is the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil, I wonder if we get any news or announcements at all

    Goooooddddd I’m f***in old

But just like every resident evil ever

    Ending jumps the shark!

Yeah it always starts off very scary and “grounded” (as grounded as a game like this can be) and then the endings always get bat s*** insane lol

  • Might be in the very small minority but I still think 8 is probably my favorite of the newer games

  • DStwo

i rlly enjoyed both rev games, they’re a great b2b experience too

Really, really enjoying rev 1 tbh. I can’t believe I haven’t gotten around to this earlier

Just beat RE2 Remake which is the first Resident Evil game I have ever played. I'm probably in the minority but I thought it was very mid. I thought it would be faster and scarier and have more action but it felt slow and underwhelming. I didn't really get much satisfaction out of it. Watching people play Requiem looks cooler, at least watching Leon's combat, but I don't know if I would like Requiem if I didn't like RE2 Remake.

Playing RE4 now on PS5 after finishing RE2 a few days ago. The gameplay in RE4 is significantly better. It's faster and got more action, but it's also way less scary to me. I am more afraid of zombies and hearing Mr X's footsteps in dark and tight hallways than angry humans in some cult. My only gripe with RE4 (which was also a gripe in RE2) is that it still has what feels like a high dead-zone setting on controller making movement and aiming less precise and a bit clumsy imo. There's either too much movement with the joystick or none at all. Heard in some video that most RE games are like that to create a lil' more of a nervous thrill when you're in a dangerous situation.

Yep, pretty much. It's there to make things tense and trip you up a bit.

Requiem is essentially a mix of RE2 and 4. Grace with the RE2 style and Leon with RE4's

I see. How are the RE games that come after RE4? Are they more like RE2, RE4 or a mix of both like Requiem?

5 is an even more action focused version of 4 set in bright africa. i like it but it dumbed things down and is pretty hollow.

6 was a complete miss, is like a total action shooter with over the top action. it has some champions these days but it killed the series for quite a while for a reason.

7 kind of took the FPS 2010s horror P.T/indie horror game era craze to insane AAA heights. it's the scariest of the series by far, it's at most peoples top 3-5 but its a different thing. familiar in terms of design (tight hallways, an iconic mr x style sequence, collectible exploration puzzle type stuff) but its first person and horror focused.

8 is first person as well but brought back some of the 4 style action focussed stuff.

    5 is worth a play

7 is defo worth it since its one of the big core fan favourite entries

and then 8 if you enjoy that

There are a couple control settings you can change to have more fluid & responsive aiming, can send that if ur interested also keep in mind if you haven’t been that the combat is probably most fun when you’re mixing things up - leg/head shots to stun and then melee, use the knife, etc. lots of ways to keep the combat more engaging and ofc you get more and more tools as the game progresses

I agree with everything @Everest said

You'd also probably like RE3. It's got more in common with 4 being more action-y, but it's very short. Like 7 hours at best.

I appreciate the input man. Thanks a lot.

I saw that RE5 doesn't have a remake so I'mma pass on that for now.

I've heard a lot about RE7 and RE8 but unfortunately I've never liked playing from a first-person POV (in any video game) and those instalments seem to dive way too far into the Horror category for my taste. I prefer the third person action and the little puzzles here and there.

At this point I think Requiem looks like the most interesting iteration for me after RE2 and RE4.

Thanks my g. Yeah hit me up with that control scheme if you want and I'll check it out. I already tried switching things up a bit by myself so it might be already be as good it can be with this thick ahh deadzone but perhaps what you got works better.

They're very different games but yes the RE1 remake, RE2 and RE3: Nemesis are classics

Cool. I have RE3 in my PS5 library (got the remake compilation of RE2 + RE3 + RE4) so I might give it a go at some point too.

I ended up bumping camera and aiming acceleration to max, reticle deceleration to 2, and then set the camera/aim speed settings to your preference. I usually don't mess around with control settings but I rlly didn't like the default ones with this

Thanks man. This wasn’t far off from what I was rocking with. I just beat the game shortly after you wrote this

whats next, 3, requiem or the 7/8 duo? Highly highly recommend re1 remake as well, you might come to love the classic style and want to play more of them

So I just beat RE2, RE3 and RE4 (the remakes) as somebody who’s never played RE before.

I did not enjoy RE2. It was too slow, boring, tedious and lacked action.

RE4 was the complete opposite. Fast paced and lots of action (almost too much) but it felt a bit drawn out and it wasn’t that scary.

RE3 with Jill Valentine and that other guy hit a good balance for me. I dunno what the status quo is but I think I liked RE3 the most actually.

Requiem looks the most interesting to me if I decide to play another RE game.

The slow tedious parts of RE2 are largely what the og games are built on so you probably won’t like those

Okay definitely can’t recommend the classics then. Requiem makes the most sense but it’s basically gonna be an equal split between re2 and re4-style gameplay. 8 is also quite action-heavy and fast paced
