so Palestinians were on the land before Israel and Israel pushed them out after WW2?

Actually I just googled and I guess it was WW1 (Balfour Declaration). So the international community just decided this land was Israel's?

This thread moved on from Rihanna after a few pages, it's not rage p*** but really an interesting discussion about the situation even though unfortunately it showed there's a lot of pro genocidal people on this website. Kind of sad to see honestly, I can't believe this many people defend Israel

Also that picture is the perfect representation to your post, it's only hypocrisy if you see in black and white but ignore the grey

why was it the UK's land to give? I presume they used force to move the Palestinians out? also when does Hamas shoot rockets? Just whenever they want? Anyway it seems very complex. But I understand America is aligned with Israel, and there are lots of Jewish people who have power in the music / entertainment business, so that is gonna shade what stars say

i think the people mad about this statement are so heated about it because Rihanna has a platform with nearly 100 million followers where she refused to condemn a genocide & “both sides”d the situation

genuinely curious. can someone please explain to me why this is a bad statement? Twitter / Reddit / IG is where I expect to see the most dumbed down version of any story, and usually the simplistic version of a political argument that's told on there is the version that doesn't actually fly in the real world

for example, Twitter / Reddit is where things like Bernie Sanders, "defund the police," and Elizabeth Warren were popular, but those things are very unpopular (nationally) in the real world. "Free Palestine" feels that same way

It's my (very basic) understanding that Hamas shoots rockets at Israel, and Hamas shoots these rockets from places where Palestinian civilians reside. So when Israel shoots back, they hit Palestinian civilians. I don't understand the history that much apart from knowing that Israel was founded after WW2 because Jews wanted a home nation to be able to defend Jews worldwide so there'd never be another Holocaust

As all internet discussions go, most people are planted firmly on their side and no amount of conversation will make them budge.
Im guilty of falling into the trap myself.

As far as the pic goes, as I have previously said I think the root of the outrage is not so much the attrocities against humanities but rather how much people just genuinely enjoying having something to be upset and rally around.

It’d be one thing if we had a calm discussion on how the economy forces most people to not have the ability to ethically discern between products,etc but when it jumps right into protective hostility I have to assume I struck a nerve.

She did condemn it and expressed empathy for the innocents on both sides, I don't entirely agree with her statement either and don't even like her as a person but acting like she said something outrageous because she didn't say exactly what you wanted her to say is just weird to me.

This is one of the few issues where being on the side of anyone but Palestine quite literally is the wrong side. I mean this is the Holocaust happening before your very eyes and you telling people they should be open to discussing both sides and search for an amicable solution lol

idk about you, but i tend to like knowing whether someone i support & give my money to would condemn a clear-cut genocide. but if you’re fine with spending your paychecks to line the pockets of genocide apologists, that’s your choice.

Using the most emotionally inflammatory language is an option, sure.

but given the past century we know that Israel is not going anywhere, and Palestine is (ideally) not going anywhere.

Why not try to work within the confines of reality to establish a solution that works for both?

Lmao indeed, that was bad taste as an a***ogy. And yes English is my third language. What I wanted to illustrate was was that someone less powerful than you wants to murder you. And you had to be under the same roof.

If Israel doesn't go anywhere then Palestine is going to be burned to the f***ing ground. Do you not understand that? Officials in Israel have already said as much. Either the world stops Israel or Palestine is done. There is no f***ing solution that works for both. ISRAEL WILL NOT STOP UNTIL THEY ARE FORCED TO OR PALESTINE IS DESTROYED. IT'S NOT COMPLICATED.
