These movies have done well financially for the most part.
I think you under estimate how little children pay attention to quality.
A 7 year old watching this movie isn’t going to care about incoherent plot, or Disney’s Especially if they were already Star Wars fans going into this.
If I’m a fan of something as a small child, you’re not going to tell me that said thing has a bad episode or movie. Everything in that franchise is phenomenal to me at that age.
In fact, I Big theory as to why the Prequels are better received now is that it’s because the children who grew up with them are now adults and now argue that they weren’t that bad.
The toys have underold tho and that's unusual for SW. In general Disney has run into issues the franchise has never bad which is lack of interest from kids.
From toys to the new theme park people haven't been into Star Wars as much and this film ain't gonna help.
The Prequels even if they hot panned had big merch and spin offs. Disney Star Wars has been flopping merch wise for awhile post TFA.
It's been an issue the entire trilogy almost.
People said Rian didn't leave JJ with anything for Episode 9 but then JJ made a movie with so much in it, it could've/should've been a trilogy on its own. That's wild.
he really introduced an entire new plot in the last part of a 9 episode series
going back and reading the leaks now
rey was supposed to fight palpatine with luke and leias ghosts before reshoots
Harry Potter won

Star Wars singlehandedly kicks off toy tie ins being a huge deal for films and the franchise eats off that even when the films aren't well recieved...only for the toy sales to flop when the franchise is bought by the biggest toy tie in studio ever
I wanted Hayden Christensen to be in this in some way so bad lol
From what I’ve read toy sales and merchandising sales are down in general, as it’s just a different market and landscape now when it comes to media. Kids now are more interested in electronics.
Merchandising wise, even if the merchandising is down in comparison to other trilogies, Star Wars is still one of the top sellers in Merchandise when it comes to film franchises.
It’s hard to compare it’s sales to other generations, as the market was completely different.

Nope lmao
Mans was probably heartbroken
So throughout 8 movies of Stars Wars, force sensitive cats could always sense when someone was on another ship - even my dude Finn who has no Skywalker/Palpatine blood line in him could sense people on a ship. And now you want me to think that Rey - this strong ass force senstive character - incorrectly sensed which ship Chewie was on.
FOH

Nope, JJ teased it twice only to never resolve it
