Cartoon violence and Mario jumping on goombas is one thing but yeah I'm definitely not letting my kid become desensitized to shooting people all day with games like call of duty. Apparently there's no correlation but you can't convince me that's not why all these school shootings are happening now.
But there's no school shootings at this frequency in other nations?
Editing an artists work after they’ve died is an act of vandalism. I haven’t seen a single person who is intellectually sophisticated and consistent actually argue this is a good thing. This is one of those instances that I assumed was agreed upon as a negative across the political spectrum. Seeing a few people defend it in here is baffling. Of course they’re coming at it from some culture war angle with a reflexive “it’s not a big deal” attitude as if the only pushback is coming from “chuds”. The common rebuttal of “but the old thing still exists” is such a limp d*** cowardly argument. If you have any respectable principles on art—you’d naturally be appalled by this.
Isn't the point of the witches that they're working regular jobs to be less noticeable?
Also... "don't be foolish"? very insensitive language here
its funny bc that actually was his legal name but he was forced to change it in the 70s after a court ruling https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roald_Dahl_v._McDonald's
Man what that’s f***ed up
Good publicity at least for his books. I haven’t read Roald Dahl in years one of the goated childhood authors totally forgot

No there's definitely something in the water over there but they do happen elsewhere

I'm with you but at the same time I don't think it's inching our way toward a dystopia to change;
"Aunt Sponge was terrifically fat / And tremendously flabby at that"
It's just a little mean spirited for a kids book. I'm a skinny f***er but have some friends and family who have always been overweight I know exactly how elementary school kids would run with a line like that no matter how much parenting is done.
However a line like;
"Aunt Spiker was thin as a wire / And dry as a bone, only drier"
Is a line only adults would really get and is actually funny. It is a slippery slope though.
Nobody is fat or ugly
i dont care. i mean look, if you showed me each revision i could tell you whether I think it's unnecessary or not (seems like some of them are unnecessary). but on a high level I'm okay with them making some small revisions to books like this to keep them more PC so that kids can keep reading them. it's fine.
Why are super rich people or companies so obsessed with not hurting anyone's feelings to a point of insanity?
Like why? Who actually thinks the word fat is offensive bro? The phone toure typing from was made partially as a result of child labor and suffering in poverty ridden countries. And we spending money changing offensive signs or rewriting books? Seriously what is going on on earth rn. It's like no aide can chill the f*** out. We gotta take everything overboard.
