just left the movie now, loved how visceral the whole thing felt

about to head into a screening of benedetta now in a few mins

just realised why the uncle was pissed at willem dafoe making jokes about the queen; he’d already been plotting the takeover with her and felt protective about her honour. lol ethan hawke didn’t give af tho, which makes sense in hindsight

Better than lighthouse?

ahh it’s tough to even compare the two of em, probably depends on what film style you usually prefer or enjoy

this has so much more scope than the lighthouse and has a plot that’s easier to follow - way more accessible to a general audience. it’s definitely a top tier blockbuster, rare that we see a movie this good given this much of a budget

but the lighthouse probably has more going on subtextually & might be more rewarding to rewatch than this. northman had great performances across the cast but i still love the dynamic between pattinson/dafoe more than any actor pairing in this movie

I hope the process wasn’t too rough on him creatively, I read some stuff about it was difficult. Hopefully he does more of these huge movies with the smaller ones in between
