That’s why I always tell them to post beats

Cause I know for a fact Al can go beat for beat with almost anyone

I forgot Break the Bank existed for a good few months until Q dropped it at his show this year. In any other artist’s portfolio that’s a generational beat but that s*** was literally another Tuesday for him

Alchemist has made so many incredible beats at this point I understand why people would be unconsciously be overwhelmed and forget about his ever amassing backcatalog leading to comparisons to literally any other artist

He STARTED his run with We Gonna Make It

Crazy how his first major placement was a drumless loop he was embarrassed of

It all really came full circle for him

    Talk about it

Back 25 years later and drumless beats are cool again to make

And he's at the top of the game.

Al doesn’t do many beat tapes, It’s mainly collabs. Q Tip also doesn’t have any beat tapes so would it be fair to ask “Does Q Tip even have a beat tape as good as Vol 3 and 4?”

I think a pretty good case can be made about Al on why he is in that pantheon

but q tip got some of the best albums of all time under his catalogue. even got one love.

Why do you keep saying this like it matters

If he didn’t put it out, It doesn’t count. You ranking Madlib higher because he potentially has a bunch of amazing unreleased beats? Like what

Nigga I'm ranking Madlib cause his overall body of work.

We talking about Malib playa, not swizz beats.

  • Man this nigga Roc is on a whole different level

finding out he produced We Gon Make It was crazy. had no idea dude was apart of my childhood like that. That was lowkey a big song back in the day. i mean i knew of Hold You Down from like 5th-6th grade of course but outside of that I didn't really get familiar with Alc frfr until Covert Coupe, No Idols and Rare Chandeliers

Big difference with this and TEMB off first listen. TEMB I think was definitely more of an artistic showcase of the dynamic and flexibility ALC and Roc brings as a duo. TEMB was more off kilter and almost felt like an art exhibit/experience. It’s dope I love the project, but Skeleton Key clicked like, immediately for me.

That alone makes me appreciate both producer and rappers efforts as a duo. It’s really some science. Happy these guys are making music.

  • Dec 14, 2024

There was definitely a little more room for interpretation with TEMB. Skeleton Key is more coordinated and in your face.

    Not to compare, just discussion

Is it too early to call TSK a classic or cult classic?
