Devil's advocate. I don't really think they're doing this.

But marketing wise, their game has been at the top of every gaming site and video for the last week, and will be until the leaks stop. None of the videos have shown anything compromising to the story or general first experience outside of beginning locations/cutscenes.

If there was ever going to be a multi billion dollar company doing social media guerrilla marketing for their product, it would probably play out like this.

The only big wrench thrown into that is the crypto. I 100% believe they would never do that

I just dont understand why people want to rush to say "I said something extremely dumb not even reading the room or context clues" first.

People will rapidly spread "oh I follow his official twitter he said he has a build" , post screenshots of a random discord user and so many other factors. when they know for a fact if a leaker isnt a dumbass they arent doing an official discord or twitter because it will get them sniped fast.

People were just joking that this man was surely arrested now they are on the inside job marketing level.

People just stir crazy from waiting this long for a rollout that should have again started about a month earlier but now we are just 4 days away from rollout fully starting. From then on we have less than 90 days will be kind of full steam ahead. Netflix Extended look drops . Then drops to youtube. They drop an updated game info page based on whatever mechanics and gameplay we see in there. Potentially press previews. then we likely hear from them again late September, then late October then its basically the final stretch

Its just the new young generation's first GTA leadup fr and everyone wants to go full Benoit Blanc about it on social media so that they feel smart

Been happening for a while with pure theorycrafting about GTA VI with nothing to go on but its worse now that people feel like insiders because they've seen the leaks

I dont think its the new generations first GTA. I think many of them V was their first GTA or if it wasnt the others feel severly dated to them because they didnt grow up with them. Then the collection was absolute dogshit at updating the games. In an ideal world a proper remake would have been done to 3, Vice City , IV and San Andreas while also maintaining GTA V online but obviously V needed updates to both online and 2 generations of consoles.

Some have morphed their entire humor and gaming career on V. Same as if next generation a new Fortnite dropped where you could transfer all purchased characters but the entire game itself was updated.

They have never experienced a San Andreas rollout in 2004, GTA IV in 2008 and even V in 2013 because they didnt follow the rollouts as much with internet it was just out for them. Many of us have followed the rollouts for 22-25 years. Gotten these games at launch. Set overall reasonable expectations because we know the bottle neck of consoles and are honest about the pros and cons of a Rockstar game like any game while also loving what they put out. Even if they are infamous about some legal issues.

A lot of these kids are obsessed with hyperbole of "best game ever" "first thing I am going to do when this gameplay drops is compare it to every game in existence with the fraction of the budget" "overrated barely an update". They say whatever on twitter or in general that will get them engagement doesn't come from the heart not even something they fully believe. If they are wrong they just say "I am trolling I was just joking rage baiting".
