How
It just gives me that feeling. Maybe I’m not too familiar with the sound but that s*** sounds forced. Kids Turned Out Fine is my favorite s*** from testing but I don’t know it just seems awkward.
Y’all really think ALLA has no flaws and that’s crazy to me. It has some filler joints and it’s way too long. An album can be good and still have flaws

idk man rocky’s been an indie fan since day 1
one of his first features was alongside phantom ram, he’s been big fans of vampire weekend, HAIM, etc
the indie influence has always been in his music, he just never really genre flipped till TESTING

That’s true. That Phantogram freestyle is dope but now it sounds forced. Honestly I prefer s*** like Pharsyde. That s*** is nice.
Pretty simple. Rocky tried LSD between the release of LongLive and ALLA. You can tell that he genuinely fell in love with it and that it changed his art. Everything about how he portrays himself and how his music sounds changed slightly. It'd be cynical as f*** to call that a rebrand. Especially when I see so much of his old style and sound there still.

This thread is hard lol. I’d love to see Rocky’s MBDTF/Astroworld, ambitious and loaded with features that are utilized in more artistic ways than just “rapper inserts verse here”

Testing is more ambitious/better features than Astro

Debatable, but I’m talking about how those albums had basically multiple features on every song. Something about those two give me vibes like the artist took on a directors role. The features start to feel like instruments of sorts that are used to fill out some of the songs. Idk how to describe it without going on a long rant lol.

I’m not a Rocky Stan, but I think he has a more unique approach to his music than Travis does. I think he could pull off something that could land somewhere between Astroworld and MBDTF

Good = An album with a lot of good songs but has some flaws. Grade: 7-8
Undeniably Good - All great songs, no filler, no flaws. 9-10

sounds like ALLA is undeniably good
if an album is already good then isn’t it undeniable? seems like a stupid label to put
livelove was indie rap when u think about it when it came out. not his fault he brought cloud rap mainstream and that became a sub genre in itself and created stars

ALLA isn’t universally praised. It’s a cult hit. Nobody outside of this forum talks about it

nobody outside of this forum talks about any music that's older than three years unless its some stupid cliche album like flower boy or astroworld
