I'd like this dude if he didn't have generic ass beats and lyrics

My mama said don't gangbang but I gangbanged I have a gun but also I'm sad I struggled so much to get here but now Im rich I made it but I'm still sad cuz all the gang stuff I did when I was doing gang stuff I'm from the streets we have guns I'm emotional but I made it
I been tryna not to be a grumpy old nigga when it comes to these new artists and understand that they're music is just not for me...but I'm sorry y'all this nigga really is just ass.
This kind of stuff is official “I’m too old for this s***” moment for a lot of us tbh

With the standard autotuned singing and melodies we've heard from Young Thug, Lil Durk, Future, Juice Wrld, Lil Uzi Vert, etc for the last 7 or 8 years.

Bro, you clearly don't listen to the music and you're exposing yourself.
A verse from Abandoned. A bunch of his songs is about depression and the relationship with his family.
"I can remember, gotta remember way back when
Since a small small kid, I didn't ever have no friends
'Member daddy went to prison, Uncle Derek took me in
Then Uncle Derek went to prison, that's when my troubles began
Mama went off and found her some happiness, she got married
Missin' my daddy badly, I turned my back on the family
And that left me looking for love in all the wrong places
Now my heart that was so full of love is full of hate
Everybody that I invested trust turned to be snakes
Everybody that I invested trust turned to be fake
I know you're frustrated, you want me to open more
But it takes a strong, strong heart to heal a broken soul"
"Conversatin' with mama, she say I'm in too deep
Until my niggas rich and free, it's hard to get me some sleep
It's hard to get me some peace with all the s*** that I be battlin'
So many ups and downs, sometimes I feel like I can't balance it
It be challenging, so many challenges (Yeah)
Oh father, it's safe to say times harder (This s*** get harder)
My pops say, "Son, be smarter, you a artist and a father"
My unc' say, "Now, be smarter, you a target and rеgardless
You a leader to thеm people and them young niggas is watchin'
Them young niggas believe in you, don't let 'em down, be cautious"
And I got skills in other things but rich off rappin' pain
So much that came with all this fame, but I remain the same
Hope you don't think 'cause I got change, that's what made me change
It's just this life got so strange, I had to switch lanes
Niggas pulled up and I'll be outside
Laid in the cut like peroxide, yeah
I vowed to be frontline when shots fired
I was out of town that night when **** died, yeah
Standin' in church, blurry-eyed that I had to confess (Yeah)
I seen my nigga laid to rest in his Sunday best
Polo on his head and chest, now that's casket fresh
Wish we would've seen eye to eye before you left
And where I'm from, it's an eye for an eye, nothing else"
what does any of this gotta do with gangbanging

Forreal like I know I've heard this same exact kinda s*** but much better before
Niggas really risked they lives on that stage during the Rona lockdowns for Rod Wave

Glad you get something from this but these lyrics read like what any 15 year old that listened to future would turn in for a poetry assignment
exposing yourself. He doesn't use autotune
Bro it’s two songs posted ITT and both use autotune lol
Like yeah he’s using his voice but it’s clearly laced with autotune

the lyrics are meant to be simple. He's pretty much an rnb artist. He talks about his paintful experiences and conveys emotion throughout songs. Simple as that. Tons of the highly regarded white songwriters have some of the most basic lyrics, I've ever seen but people get something out of it and that's what matters.

you mean reverb? Which every artist uses. Because theres no autotune. You can literally listen to him off track and he sounds the same
Forreal like I know I've heard this same exact kinda s*** but much better before
Niggas really risked they lives on that stage during the Rona lockdowns for Rod Wave
we have a million niggas singing with autotune over trap beats as it is so u adding onto an oversaturated market is the worst

he barely uses autotune lol yall niggas just be chatting
where's the autotune on this
He doesn’t use autotune. This forum is clueless

thoughts on this?

U listen to Playboi Carti and talking about generic lyrics lol
Always hilarious when people who can’t relate to the street s*** tries to bash the lyrics instead of just saying they can’t relate.
I’ve also been in the old head boat not feeling most new artist. But Rod Wave isn’t the artist to use that take on. This man song like an old gospel artist.

I’m from St Pete and I agree with u
His lyrics are so watered down like it would be cool if he did this for an album or two but now we’re like 4 albums deep of him saying the same things
