    S*** is weird tbh

All their albums are good to great but for some reason they are considered corny now or some s***

its def because of their audience. they have a really weird career trajectory where these both kinda semi-underground or niche dudes formed a duo and suddenly became reddit celebrities. El-P was like basically backpacker rap and then after RTJ he's doing Rick & Morty promos on Adult Swim. all the brand deals like that + leaning into the weird white twitter/reddit audience hurt their public image a lot on KTT and a few other music circles. you have a lot of fans of them who treat them the same way as eminem with the "i don't like hip hop but these guys are really saying some real s***!!" and thats def rubbed onto how people view them not vs like 8 years ago

i actually fw 1 and 2 almost equally i'd say, always found it slightly underrated when compared to universally acclaimed 2

    Title.

Doesn’t seem like this place really like RTJ like that anymore.

When RTJ2 dropped, they were the darlings of the music forumsphere.

    Darling
    D-d-darling
    Da Da Da-Da da-ling
    (oh my)

Much better than 3 but not as good as 1 or 2

  • Jun 9, 2022

I think it's one of their better ones. Good energy, a few major standouts, better lyricism than some of their other records.

  • Still haven't listened

    Hmm cap?

    RTJ 2 a masterpiece

I don't listen to it in full very often anymore but that opening run goes stupid

Great album has a few of my favorite verses, concepts and beats from the RTJ discog. El-P first on goonies vs ET, holy im not typing that word out , walking in the snow (especially Mike verse), pulling the pin and a few words for the firing squad . The sequencing is typical for an El-P project so that’s flawless.

So basically insecure people just stopped enjoying something they genuinely liked cause of s*** spewed out of other peoples mouths.
