krishna boundits def because of their audience. they have a really weird career trajectory where these both kinda semi-underground or niche dudes formed a duo and suddenly became reddit celebrities. El-P was like basically backpacker rap and then after RTJ he's doing Rick & Morty promos on Adult Swim. all the brand deals like that + leaning into the weird white twitter/reddit audience hurt their public image a lot on KTT and a few other music circles. you have a lot of fans of them who treat them the same way as eminem with the "i don't like hip hop but these guys are really saying some real s***!!" and thats def rubbed onto how people view them not vs like 8 years ago
