    In for hi-fi rush.

Edit: not good for competition. If Xbox pulls out of the console market Sony can do all kinds of sheisty s***, they already started doubling ps plus prices

Nah this is smart. In the short term most gamers (who are usually emotionally volatile) will see it as them going third party, but they're trying to hook players onto their games before they force the whole industry into moving towards game subscription services like Gamepass. This is a long play. Sea of Thieves is a live service game too which will just put more money in their back pockets.

the way triple a gaming is going, xbox stepping away from hardware and into software / publishing is the way to go

almost everyone i know with gamepass uses it to play old xbox games, and at most has an xbox one.

anyone i know who plays cod / 2k regularly has ps5 and even a couple of ppl who shifted from xbox to ps5 despite crossplay

with xbox one being a failed cycle and covid really hurting this generation bad, it seems silly to invest in selling $500 machines that cant really compete with pc, a few years into their life cycle.

How would making games more accessible to more people be them shooting themselves in the foot

tbh gamepass on pc works so well i just dont even see there being another xbox next generation.

the next generation specs are gonna give us such minimal jump in graphics.

all while theres gonna be such little developers with the talent + resources + time + experience to deliver a meaningful gaming experience that actually uses the technology .

genuinely think the only way forward for xbox is to focus on software. ps aaa games are gonna continue to be the standard and if activision + rockstar continue to give sony more exclusivity its only a matter of time

given their obsession with cloud stuff and how much better gamepass is with whatever the f*** sony's version of that is going, i genuinely think the future will be microsoft managing cloud streaming / online services / servers and sony handling the hardware / publishing

Makes Xbox hardware appear less desirable if some exclusives become un-exclusive; I’m talking bout the larger picture here

I'm PC only these days so most console stuff doesn't really affect me. Glad I moved away from consoles tbh. Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft all are greedy s***ty companies that don't give a f*** and I'm tired of their bullshit. Just tired of people stanning these companies that would f*** them over every day of the week and applauding it for them just because they played a game of theirs they put out when they were 9

Only good use case for consoles is if you want a simple experience which is understandable.

No one is buying an Xbox to play sea of thieves or hi fi rush. This just increases sales

  • Jan 8, 2024

Would be cool if Sony brought helldivers 2 to Xbox

Hardware is still very important to Microsoft Gaming; the leaked hardware roadmap to ~2030 is proof of that.

And as long as casuals are interested in gaming, there’s always going to be room for consoles in the market

yea i mean ofc im literally a random forum user, these companies know the bhying habits and actually knownwhat drives profits

and yea consoles will always be important but if the biggest xbox users have migrated to pc or are still on last gen, its hard to imagine them being a viable console option.

starfield was their chance, s*** i even almost got an xbox for that. but with how much of a clear failure starfield is and uncertainty looming around ES6 + devs like fromsoftware delivering amazing open world fantasy experiences

idk. starfields failure is 100% gonna pivot the landscape. bethesda has arkane, so there could be some good exclusives, but if microsoft is already willing to let go of some of their best exclusives rn to sony...

also again given the triple a landscape, developers might have to push sony and microsoft's timelime back. whats the point of dropping another console if devs are barely cracking the ceiling on the ones we have now. were still years away from touching that.

this being the last series of xbox is a bit silly, ill admit, but i genuinely think microsoft will pivot towards pc and cloud focus, it just makes the most sense unless theres any indication ES6 will actually be a good game.

and given how little has changed internally at bethesda since their inception, i dont think theres even enough time to make the right changes on ES6 to ensure its a "must buy"

even if it is, its still gonna be on pc, where most die hard elder scrolls fans play. the only way things arent looking dim is if microsoft makes a serious pivot. and if theyre gonna be funding kojima games (infamous money sinks) then idk mane

  • Jan 8, 2024

I mean this goes in line with their business model

They wanna have game pass on other consoles eventually, they’ll stop making Xbox consoles in a heartbeat to expand game pass on every platform

Xbox already gets outsold 6:1 with PS5 and the Switch is a powerhouse with obviously great sales. This is just the trajectory for Microsoft.

hi fi rush is so leagues above almost every other game ive played in recent memory. sea of thieves ive never played. theres rumours to bring that rick and morty ass game a lot of ppl loved to playstation. if theyre willing to let go of these gems this early, idk writings on the wall.

even if there is a new xbox i think the xbox as we knew it isnt going to exist anymore

Exclusives will always matter. That’s how you sell consoles

I buy Nintendo for Mario and Pokémon and zelda

I buy Sony for GOW, Last Of Us, Spider-Man, Ratchet

    I buy Xbox because….???

Whether you want to admit it, exclusives matter to selling

Why buy an iPhone? Because of its exclusive software

Why subscribe to Disney+? Because of it’s exclusive content

That’s why Nintendo sell crazy consoles

That’s why Sony sell crazy consoles

That’s why Xbox is struggling to sell anything and discounting their new gen console for dirt cheap

It’s bad for business and destroying Xbox
