even if there is a new xbox i think the xbox as we knew it isnt going to exist anymore

High on life isn’t first party

Leaked roadmap already shows hardware well into the 2030’s

Xbox as hardware is not getting abandoned

    Stop with fan fictions

No one is buying an Xbox to play sea of thieves or hi fi rush. This just increases sales

    this

but even if they did buy an Xbox to play those games - Phil already admitted that consoles being available is a goal but to sell them is not the focus - therefore it doesn't hurt if others buy the games on PS5 or Switch as it goes with Phil's master plan

these weird console warriors want us to believe that exclusives sell consoles but that only applies to Nintendo with a large thanks to what was once innovative hardware

  • Jan 8, 2024

im a huge Nintendo and Xbox fan mostly because of Mario, Zelda, DK, Gears, Forza and Halo which will always be Nintendo and Xbox games regardless of the device i play them on

i was a big PS fan when Resistance, Killzone, SOCOM and Twisted Metal were available and will always be a fan of old PlayStation but their focus on exclusive new IPs during PS4 gen wasnt for me and yet i still got a PS5 day one lol

TLDR point being that gaming studios are becoming like movie studios and the console wars are long OVER

If Xbox doesn’t care that much about selling hardware like the other two then what good is a subscription service if the exclusive games aren’t worth a damn or are being brought over to a competitor’s platform, so yes, exclusives matter a lot, especially in selling hardware and services.

Xbox execs not caring about hardware sales is a myth; of course they do. Phil only admitted that Xbox isn’t able to catch up to PlayStation and Nintendo.
Starfield was literally being propped up by Xbox as a system seller. That and the leaked hardware roadmap show Xbox hardware will always be an essential pillar to their Game Pass strategy.

Hardware isn't going anywhere. Too much money being made off that 30% cut.

Game Pass subs have completely flatlined on console. Not a bad strategy to try and get PS owners interested in IP in hopes that they'll follow the IP to other contact points (PC, mobile, xCloud if available).

Sony and Nintendo have been making profit on every console sold for years now. Not to mention that consoles are still the best contact point for people to interact with your storefront. You can pretend console sales don't matter all you want, but Sony and MS take a 30% cut when anyone buys any games or MTX on their CONSOLE.

simple: the subscription service is still the only way to play day one without paying full price

hardware isnt the focus and it shouldnt be

MS takes a cut when it happens on the entire Xbox platform which isnt limited to consoles

we have seen actual evidence of documents reporting that PS consoles dont make much profit and neither do PS exclusives

consoles are the least important, not saying they arent important at all because 30 million Xbox Series sales is great but it's more about the studios and their games and how much profit the entire business earns

  • Jan 9, 2024

regardless of the rumours or Microsoft's lack of focus on Xbox console sales - ull need a $1000 PC or Xbox console to play these games and console warriors who port beg can suck it:
    Hellblade 2
    STALKER 2
    Avowed
    Clockwork Rev
    Flight Sim 24
    Towerborne
    Indiana Jones
    Fable
    Gears 6
    etc etc

Xbox has said multiple times since their Bethesda accusation that every 1st party title is a case by case basis wether or not it comes to Switch and/or PS5, or it stays just in the Xbox+PC ecosystem

They are also opened to making exclusive content for either Switch or Playstation from their own first parties - if the agreement is agreeable enough

And they said COD will stay multi plat for the next few years and then it might become Xbox/PC only - just depends

Among other general things such as Minecraft stays multi (Microsoft owns Minecraft since the ps4 era), Deathloop kept it Sony exclusive but was turned to timed etc. along with the stuff above

This is stuff theyve been saying since this gen started

Only their really major-major titles like Statfield are they really trippin on keeping in their Xbox+PC ecosystem - so something like Elder Scrolls 6 (and whatever other gigantic 1st party titles) is 95% forsure locked within them like Statfield

But Microsoft has been clear they are always opened to ideas and deals, if it makes sense

Their walled garden is never permanent

Microsoft has been doing this type of idea since 360 era tbh

Mass Effect (the first one) was originally an Xbox exclusive, and both KOTORs before that

Skyrim was almost an Xbox exclusive while Morrowind & Oblivion are still console exclusive to them Etc.

    Its good and bad

The good is obvious while the bad is that they let go a lot of studios under them and their close relationships, mainly due to the dumbass that took over xbox - ruined it & forced the Kinect

But even before then Xbox has always been gun-shy with keeping studios for long or buying them (until recently obviously)

They could have been had Bethsda, Fromsoftware, parts of Sega, parts of Bioware etc.

On one hand its good but on the otherhand (in the past at least) it made little sense how quick they let go or shelved deals

Only in OG Xbox and now this era - to a degree - have they really tried to have permanent situations

Pretty sure they’ve only said that once..
And the main issue with Xbox currently is the lack of worthwhile exclusives; Hi-Fi Rush was their 1st win since 2021 and their only win of 2023 (Redfall, Starfield and Forza Motorsport all failed to deliver), so for them to hand out their only win to the competition that’s absolutely trouncing them in sales (PS5 is outselling Xbox in a 3 to 1 ratio) is BAFFLING.
If it were Nintendo then I’d get it cus that’s the kind of audience that’s really into these kind of games, but it’s PlayStation we’re talking about here, their main rival.
Xbox being more competitive and aggressive is better for everyone cus it’ll force PlayStation to not be complacent.
