i have to disagree, people were actively looking to hear it
even if you dont make an album full of bangers or easy hits you want to make an album that has replay value no?
im not saying it doesn't have replay value it just feels like for most consumers it didnt
Yea this album isn’t made for most consumers. It’s about black trauma, him rapping about f***ing white girls for revenge and father-son relationship in a specific community. Which is perfectly fine.
Truthfully, I think y'all f***in up tryna talk sales about a conscious hip-hop album as if that is truly important with those kinda albums. Were people d*** eating the charts for Lupe, Common, and Mos Def like this back then? If they were I really don't remember it lmao always thought it was about the raps and concepts with these kinda albums

are the masses really looking to hear We Cry Together, Worldwide Steppers, and Crown though? compare it to what else is poppin rn, and it sure as hell doesn't fit that criteria. if you really listen to the album, there is a lot of replay value in terms of actually listening to what Kendrick is saying. people tend to dismiss things that they're not familiar with and aren't comfortable hearing, so obviously it's gonna tank.
but then again you see time and time again several artists who make the same bullshit over and over and people eat it up because they are familiar with it
@sab im getting really sick and tired of this unprovoked racism against us whites on this forum that goes unpunished.

When you play an album on the aux and it didnt sell well
We really out here comparing Harry Styles with Kendrick.
Harry Styles had CD's and Vinyls that's why his pure sales are like 320k lol
He probably wouldn't have outsold Kendrick if he didn't have physicals
Not to mention that he has a #1 song too

if its interesting enough, I dont see why not tbh
you see how many people listened to the album first day? those are drake numbers
now that I heard the album more than 10 times I feel like its not as a complete package as his previous projects but I still really like it
all this discourse on sales and I’m surprised no one has mentioned the timing. we just had two mass shootings within the past 2 weeks. I think a lot of the public, myself included admittedly, just isn’t in the mood to vibe to a conscious album about trauma when the country is drowning in it right now
vince staples has no passion. also he not pop music.
dude is hilarious tho. should be a comedian
Don’t know what you mean he has no passion. Literally dropped his best work yet

TALK!
Ruth Chris is way better than McDonalds, why don’t more people eat at Ruth Chris
Idk what that is. Might not be in as many locations as mcdonalds or more expensive? Doesnt have anything to do with streaming
Sales don’t mean s*** for Kendrick’s album
But will mean something if drake’s numbers decline
Gotcha

They probably won't because he's going to be making music for teenagers his entire career

Kendrick album is not meant to be listened to. Museum art piece that u visit once every few years.
well let me say you're completely wrong with this, if we check inflation 2001 a space odyssey did much more than Armageddon and still has multiple reruns and rereleases in cinema and bluray all the time
and armageddon was a movie that did good at first but was rapidly forgotten
so you're calling Kendricks album Armageddon?
