  • Good-afternoon fellas,

Went to a shop to take my car for a loud rattling noise under my hood. Mechanic tells me it’s the belt tensioner and I need to pay $600 for it to be fixed.

I pay the money and the noise is even louder. I call back to the shop and they tell me to BRING my car back. So I take the car back and the mechanic tells me he can’t hear the rattling noise. We end up going on a drive in the parking lot and he FINALLY hears the loud noise. He originally thought I was talking about an entirely different noise. However, the noise I was talking about sounds like a propeller underneath my hood. He then wants to say he can’t “identify the issue” and I’m like okay brotha what about my $600?

Then the manager says that because they put a new belt tensioner on my car and fixed a different noise entirely that makes me ineligible for a refund. At this point im like wtf? What did y’all fix? The problem wasn’t fixed. Then the mechanic wants to lie to the manager and tell him he ain’t hear nothing when we drove in the parking lot. Mechanic lied his ass off and kept telling different stories to save his ass.

What can I do in this situation? The establishment was AAA auto repair. Mechanic lying talking about he fixed a different noise when he ain’t fix s***. Then the manager want to get rude with me trying to make it seem like I’m lying and trying to get a service for free.

Bro it’s not about being a thug or living rap lyrics. It’s about receiving quality customer service. Shouldn’t have to put on a show for a service.

This remind me of a rundown auto shop in my hometown where all the mechanics were shooting up and smoking rocks. Mfs who ain’t know better would turn they car in and be like yeah i need x issue fixed and they would do an oil change and charge out the ass for s*** that was never done

That's why I get opinions from multiple mechanics if the price quoted to fix it is high as hell. Might have to swallow that diagnostic fee, but sometimes it's worth it.

Give your daughter 700 and she’ll make sure the issue is solved with proper payment

go back and sneakily record them and see if u can get them to admit to wrong doings and then grab cousin Terry and have him pretend to be ur lawyer and shake them down for the $600, it will probably work tbh

Car repair is always tricky especially if you don’t know yourself about cars. I’m always going to doubt the first opinion so I’d take it to multiple places beforehand including the official service repair to let them take a look and get a common issue and price together.
