Being battle tested is just one factor, I’m not saying everyone in a top 10 needs a beef as a requirement. But it helps
Andre and Big Boi aren’t even close to touching KRS, Kane, Kool G Rap, Scarface, Ice Cube, Black Thought, LL Cool J, Wayne, etc and that’s just the bottom half of my top 10 before we get to the real heavy hitters. Their work as a group is brilliant but as an MC we just can’t put them over people who really rapped their whole career

He made like 10 solo albums in the 80s and 90s, was the first true solo rap star, paved the way and set the stage for why an MC is in many ways, multiple classic albums, many classic singles. People without solo albums can’t be in the conversation with him

I’m in my late 20s, but even if I was, what’s the suggestion here? Never has anyone ever seriously considered Andre the greatest ever. Only on this site would that be a thing. Jay, Nas, Ye, Drake, Rakim, Pac, Big, Eminem, and maybe a few others are commonly considered in contention for that top spot. Nobody ever mentions 3K lol I hate typing these things because I genuinely like him, but cmon man. He has never even released a solo album. Stop it. Is he a great? For sure.
