There’s no school shooter alive who’s been found unfit to stand trial due to their mental health. If they’re fit to stand trial, they were fit to commit the crime. Insanity is not the crux of these cases, access to a weapon is the crux and you know that you’re being a pointedly-disingenuous cretin to argue otherwise

Lets take your trite s***-eating suggestion seriously for half a second and assume that access to guns is somehow not the root cause of an unending mass murder wave perpetrated by children with access to guns. Instead, it’s their mental health.
Well, doing literally anything about that would require not only more licensed therapists and psychiatrists than we have available in the country, but also nation-wide MH referendums instituting mandatory therapy programs for children flagged as “potentially dangerous” (good luck standardizing that criteria!) which would have to be federally backed. Medicaid would need to completely restructure it’s fee schedule for childhood psychiatric care and accelerate the mass development of adolescent halfway homes & inpatient care facilities. The current industry of “bad kid camps” (which is filled to the gills with ex-military sociopaths, rapists and criminal sadists) would need to be gutted and nationalized. The program itself would be one which parents and children were unable to opt out of, for either religious or personal reasons, and every teenager with feelings of antisocial behavior would require a caseworker.

You expect anyone to believe that someone would be in support of the massive government oversight and full-scale rewriting of the national health care system required to facilitate this, but against basic gun control measures? At that point, why not both?
