i try to be conscious of the principle “never argue with a fool because, from afar, you both look foolish” so i didn’t wanna do anything without it being clearly reasonable from an outsider’s perspective. my own political views shouldn’t get in the way of my moderating.

Nov 18, 2020·editedI just want to put it out there that vaccines are not especially profitable, let alone a gold rush for big pharma. I mean in this absolutely unprecedented situation maybe. But most vaccine initiatives die on the vine because there is not enough ROI until long after the vaccine is approved. Compared to the prescriptions we all rely on, vaccines are a drop in the bucket.
The federal government won't even send us $1200 checks. I don't know where people are expecting the cash flow for life-changing medical advancements to come from if there is no ROI to speak of. This country is totally f***ed as far as health care is concerned and it's reasonable to point out those who benefit, but it's the nature of the beast.

Without capitalism we wouldn’t have a vaccine and now we have two when most medical experts thought it would take well over a year. And it’ll be a fraction of what the CARES act cost to vaccinate the entire population
Pretty sure there had been a vaccine for the Corona virus in the works, that was eventually scrapped because it was deemed unprofitable. Capitalism and poorly regulated markets is the reason why there's a pandemic in the first place.

definitely not why. there’s plenty of people who support capitalism on here, but this guy in particular made it his entire identity to the point where the only two logical explanations for his behavior are he’s either a paid shill (which he’s denied) or he’s just a massive troll. either one is a ticket out of here. i warned him to tone it down with the shilling/trolling on here & all he did was change his name to something equally as shillish/trollish. every thread he’s in, he gets called out for being an obvious shill.
he wasn’t banned for his political views, but his behavior in presenting them promoted the spread of misinformation and clear data manipulation whenever he posted.

They weren’t part of operation warp speed, but they still received about half a billion from Germany, and around 2 billion in secured purchases from the US government.
