after reading r/kitchenconfidential I just assumed everyone employed at a restaurant was doing coke, getting drunk off wine, and chain smoking cigs on shift

used to serve at a chain restaurant and this is true for the most part lmfao i have a friend who serves downtown in my city and her / her coworkers drink and get f***ed up 24/7 getting coke delivered on their shifts and s***

I can't think of anything for insurance because I forget how privacy laws work so idk what would be a big deal,, I assume most people know this but they don't really give GTAs any official training and at best they shadow a class, so theyre going in and teaching a class or lab with no experience, not enough training, and they're also probably super busy in their graduate program so you're not getting an ideal experience

I wanna hear some interesting s*** you know from jobs y'all worked at. I worked mainly in food/restaurant service before graduating college so I don't got nothing crazy interesting.

    • Sometimes they will put s*** back on the grill/stove to rewarm it, then give it to you.
    • I seen people take tiny pieces of food before serving it to customers
    • If you get water in a glass it is 100% tap water even if they tell you it isn't

    Lmao all true

We use to put lemon in tap water to make it look fancy lol

But tbh nyc tap water is pretty good, it all depends on how old are the pipes in the building.

Used to work at McDonalds, whenever I was pissed off towards a customer, I'd spit in their food

I remember when I was working in catering place, a line cook sneezed on bunch of raw beef patties

A lot of food in the kitchen will be touched by chefs or managers fingers.

When we serving steak and someone ordered medium rare, rare or any other temperature the chef will squeeze it with his fingers to make sure temperature is right, sometimes manager will squeeze it himself to make sure it’s a right temperature.

There’s more stuff, I just don’t remember right now.

Not a secret in the way you mean, but I used to work at the UPS Store and we would intentionally charge people AIR instead of GROUND on their packages, which was like a $50+ difference. Package going the next town over? AIR! A couple blocks? AIR!

When I worked fast food we worked with a heroin addict and one day I went to check on her when she was doing the dishes I saw her wrist bleeding into the sink.

I told the manager it would probably be a good idea to rewash the dishes and he didn’t wanna do it

If you call an Apple Store & say “manager,” that’s the only way you’ll actually be transferred to the Apple Store location. If you say anything else to the automated system, your ass is getting transferred to iOS tech support.

There are extraterrestrial havens beneath both the White House and Denver International Airport. Each newly appointed US President, Vice President and Officeholder of the Secretary of Defense go below ground level to witness their existence within the first few months into their positions.

  • both the tech industry and the wider "entertainment" industry are f***ing wild and it should be a far bigger scandal as to what level of blatant corruption happens in them without them being regulated basically at all

  • Oct 20, 2020

This fast food s*** is wild I never would think about doing any of that and I’d say the most of the people I worked with didn’t do that either
