@op you're definitely projecting. Maybe people dont want to help you and that has been your experience. But i would not be where I am today without the help of others.

I joke about it on KTT but i have seen some very dark days and made some awful choices in life that have irreversable consequences. My own behaviors have created a deep hole that I struggle everyday to climb out of. However, SO MANY people have been there to pick me up and help me better myself. Not just friends and family but total strangers have made significant efforts to help me.

People are not going to go and do things for you. Youre rarely going to get a hand out. But people will help you help yourself. You would be surprised how willing people are to help if you just ask.

Its dangerous to go around and tell people that "people dont give a s*** about you" becaue that is simply not the case. Yes there are people who are so wrapped up in their own lives and problems that they won't help you. But I know for a fact there are people who give a s*** cuz i have seen and experienced it first hand.

Indeed, those people do exist. I know because I am one of those people. I will go out of my way to help somebody who needs help. I have been helping local homeless people for the past month and seeing what I can do to get them housed.

But there is only so much we can do to help. Most of the help I give to homeless people involves a lot of self responsibility on their part and a lot of responsibility on the part of the local authority. I can't get them out of the hole they are in.

I mean this is a nice sounding sentence but I don't know what that even has to do with anything.

    Who's saying self responsibility bigotry?

Many people. It is heavily associated with the right.

I explained why earlier in the thread. Self responsibility and individualism contradicts almost all ideologies on the left.

Many people reading this thread probably think I am on the right.

Self responsibility is not a taboo. A portion of the left attempts to address structural inequalities that cannot be solved through self responsibility or “pulling yourself up by the bootstraps”. In response, the right conflates lack of self responsibility with structural inequalities as a way to keep structural inequalities in place.

Ah, I meant to refer to my other posts and what I believe to be demonization of any valuable strength of masculinity and it’s relation to self-responsibility

For instance, I’m certain that some would or will call this notion from OP toxic masculinity and that’s all.

I would argue that there isn't so much a demonetization of it rather it's a lack of interest. When you can become a millionaire doing skits on tik-tok or playing games on youtube it's to be expected that there will be a decline on these kind of traits.

You need life experience to build self-responsibility after all and you can't get that from the internet but that's a big can of worms and this is already a long ass post. Be easy

Hm. Nah I don't think you're on the right but your OP post probably made the most sense to me.

    Have a good 1.

Ahh.. I said demonization not demonetization.

What you’re saying is true, but those fame oriented careers are fleeting and not as indicative of a strong backbone to society IMO.

    Agreed there too. Good convo

Very reasonable and level headed discussion here

Don't often see that on this site.
