he saw his soulmate with another man.

AND his outie studying and painting things from the innie world.

he's hurting AND can't even comprehend what he saw. plus i'm fully convinced he's on to helena so he doesn't even feel like he can dig into his s\*\*\*.

"i’d draw one everyday i couldn’t see him"

    i don't have any a***ysis yet but

feel like there's gotta be a connection between Burt and Ms Casey the way they were both drawn "repeatedly" in this episode. Ms Casey was drawn and then photocopied, and Irving did the same drawing of Burt so consistently they almost look like copies. As far as I can tell, there's been no other drawings (except Petey's map) in the entire series, so to get these moments in tandem seems potentially relevant

as someone who waited three years for the second season

i disagree that the s1 finale would have been a good place to stop

I don't mind endings that answer questions and characters do reach their goals, but can still leave viewers left asking "I wonder where it could go..."

The main objectives of the employees was to expose Lumon, learn about their outties' lives, and free themselves. Obviously by the existence of season 2 that means their plans didn't go exactly as they planned. I don't know, I haven't watched yet and likely won't watch until the season ends because I like to wait til a show or season is wrapped up before watching it. But if this was just a one season series I would've felt fine with the ending. I don't mind when shows, movies, games, or books allow the viewer/reader/player/etc to draw their own conclusions in the ending if the creators at least complete the main objective of the plot. That's just me. Looking forward to getting to season 2 regardless

I see where you're coming from, but ultimately disagree— there's a subtle difference between "open-ended" and "unresolved"— and while there are many examples of shows that effectively achieve what you described, I personally feel that there was too much set up here to not follow through. Let alone not getting to really know any characters besides Mark... we still don't even know what their job is at MDR !

if it were to have been cancelled, that would be one thing, but if let's say S1 was a limited series that were planned/structured to end that way? I, for one, would be quite unsatisfied and frustrated to invest so deeply and only get such a small part of the story

I saw a good theory about all the Pineapples which is that it's the only fruit that can sprout a new plant from a fragment, rather than a seed or something

I saw a video that pointed out that the severance implant is in the pineal gland. pine-al = pine-apple. That's why they have all the pineapples in the show

Speculation from going back and watching the s2 trailer, seems like oMark is trying to communicate with iMark by burning a message into his eyes by staring at a projector light (or something similar) so that when iMark closes his eyes he sees the message, clever writing to get around the code detectors.

the show pretty much called me an idiot in this episode for this one

Lmao when he was planning that I said out loud “that’s smart as f\*\*\*” then she explained it wouldn’t work so casually :hah:

cobel worried was interesting. I wonder if she thinks they’ll forcibly sever her. Mark reintegration will be interesting, didn’t think that’d happen so soon.

They do have cameras on them at all times. That’s how they made the stop motion animation for them. I guess they feel it’s better for productivity if they are allowed to wander around some time and have the family room/visits. Weighing the probable lack of productivity completely if they were locked in the MDR room verses the perception of freedom to move around

Yeah but Lumon actually removed the physical cameras that were there in those halls/offices when the innies returned in S2 tho. The team knew they were being watched before but now they think they aren't being watched and have the okay to freely go beyond where they went in S1.

There's 100% still being surveilled this season but Lumon isn't doing it like they did last season. The stop motion was just made from the footage of cameras that "aren't there" anymore

I'm starting to think even Milchick level employees are severed and don't realize, they're just always on innie mode
