Damn QT lacking the emotional depth huh
And who else you prefer then for the badass s***?
Would you say Scorsese is the better balance of emotional depth and badass ?
Def Takashi Miike, QT himself even called him the greatest director alive at one point. QT violence is 1:1 to Miike's use of violence. But he just amps it up to a million with the craziness. Also, he is a lot more versatile, he has done every genre and subgenre you can imagine with his 103 feature films
Just Japanese genre cinema in general. Battle Royale is something Tarantino-esque.. but it's just wayyy more enjoyable to me. That's funny enough also his favorite film
Uhhh tough to answer. Yes Scorsese does know how to do impressive ''badass'' scenes involving violence and whatnot, but i was moreso thinking of directors who are more exploitative like Tarantino himself is
You know what film I’ve always loved when it comes to dialogue, even more so than QT films? Paid in Full. Lmao. To me that film has the coolest quotable dialogue ever, prolly cus I grew up in NY and the guys the film is based around we’re local legends.
“I ain’t got no money I’m broke Bebe”
“Niggas die everyday, b”
“Shit look like a mufucka spaceship man”
From when I was a little ass kid I thought they was saying the coolest s*** and today I still do. Like with my movies I want niggas in the hood quoting it to they friends
So you fw the Safdie bros i assume? I haven't been NYC so idk how accurate it is, but even if it's not they really sold me on it. Good Time is underrated af imo, i enjoyed it a lot more than Uncut Gems

Takashi Miike Is amazing. I remember one of my ex’s put me on to battle royale way back and I thought she was batshit crazy for doing so
You ever seen First Love? Think it’s one of his more recent films. That s*** wild.
Friendly reminder to visit my KinoToThe thread in misc if you ever wanna discuss something, so that we don't have to hijack another persons thread. Feel welcome

Have i seen First Love he asks
bro ive seen nearly 40 Miike films by now
i stan !
dig deeper, First Love is his most tame film maybe (LOVE it btw even if it's more tame)

Bro yes of course. Safdies I’d say do s*** closer to what I envision doing but just with black people in my s*** as the main cast instead. Funny cus Safdies are the ONLY other respectable filmmakers I’ve seen mention ‘paid in full’ as a movie they love

much love to @op for the recommendation
this was a pretty good movie
Well
Glazer really added his creative touch on this s*** and established that from day one rather than making it a typical crime film
Lmaooo that f***in boulder too

Opening scene goated
Walking on the beaches looking at the peaches
Birth best Glazer
Hell nah
Was a severe letdown as a Glazer stan. But it wasn't his fault, the script was just atrocious.
Under The Skin & Sexy Beast both personal classics to me

Script was lacking I agree. I find Glazer a bit overrated especially on this site.. UTS and SB are good movies but nothing special...
