Like it's very common to see a fit girl with a fat and lazy "dad bod" type dude. It's also very common to see a "gym rat" dude with a thick/chubby girl.
It's really not as crazy as it sounds
Working at a gym, the only time I've seen couples together at the gym is if they are both skinny af or fat af and they going to the gym to be one another's workout buddy. It's nice to see that though.
