The demons conversations are so goated
Why they do Jack Frost like that
Why did nobody warn me about this second Lahmu fight?
Did you beat it?
I remember the first time I got there I beat all the tentacles, when Lahmu appears as a single target I spent the whole turn buffing up my team and then pretty much one shot it... then I realised that theres a second fight and I entered that phase with pretty much no mp, still managed to beat it but it was rough as f\*\*\*

Hell no I didnāt beat it. Not even close
I realized thereās a bunch of quests I havenāt done in the area so Iām just gonna grind for a bit. I thought I was doing something but that fight killed my confidence tbh

king frost came in clutch there with king bufula.
Im guessing every single person is running a party with Idun as the healer right?

i did up until the point where i got tao in the party. the game really wants you to have you and your demons close to the same levels as what you're fighting, otherwise you do no damage/get deleted. really should've used my grimoires to get idun up though, legit had like 60+ at the last area
idun is actually so good though. her design is great as well

I literally have had her in my party since I got her, I think its time I re-fused her just to get her stats back up, same with yoshitsune because I have't replaced him yet either
Speaking on levels im at temple of eternity and all my demons are like 10 levels below the current demons in the area, my nahobino lv 78 though and divine arrowfall claps everything regardless, I just have my demons finish them off
edit: just encountered a demon thats lv 87 in here so I think imma rebuild my party right now actually

bro i'm dumb as s***. never used divine arrowfall and used megidoloan instead. completely forgot about it
but yeah, it's prob a good idea to do that. that demon stat miracle is busted. always funny to see lvl 16 demons with 70s in each stat
also got clapped by some of those demons in there. ended up just running by some of em
idk if you want some advice going forward with the game since you're that far, so i'll spoiler it even though it's not much of a spoiler. you're about to get locked into an ending, so i would save/make a separate file when aogami tells you to.
not sure if you know about the "true" ending, but would recommend getting all the side quests out of the way, particularly the khonsu ones and the ! mark where you fight vasuki. you get locked into an ending when asked a specific question at the tower of eternity, so it's possible to miss the ending if you don't do all the side quests prior. made that mistake lol.

Good looking out, I clicked on the first spoiler and thats actually really useful to know. Haven't clicked on the true ending spoiler, I kinda wanna find out myself.
I have spent 75 hours on my play-through so far
, that being said I have done damn near every side quest possible and I even nearly filled up my demon compendium Sofia even gave me an item, wondering if thats related to true ending. If I don't get the true ending first run i'll click the spoiler then

basically as long as you do just about everything (like you have), you're pretty much set.
Playing PokƩmon as a break before I prepare for Lahmu. I need to find the remaining Miman in Shinigawa first.
already knew where this was going after i saw the shiki ouji one

last dungeon spoilers for anyone else
Should I got for the true ending straightaway or will that make some bosses later on easier? I just got to the point in the dungeon where aogami warns me that some s\*\*\* about to go down, im assuming I need to beat shiva before this point. My question is that if I grind to lv 90 to beat shiva will that make the other bosses a lot easier? Metatron was the last boss before this checkpoint and he was only lv 78

if you beat shiva, the final boss will be a *complete* pushover. i'd just go in on a lower level save, if you have one, and choose one of the first two options (the last one doesn't really have a real final boss for some reason lol). you still have some fights to do, but if you're strong enough to beat shiva, then everything else will just fold
also shiva theme is so sick man

Ait good looking I thought that might be the case
And you right that theme is f\*\*\*ing crazy, also I went and tried shiva and holy s\*\*\* when he did that long ass animation I knew he done f\*\*\*ed my s\*\*\* up

it's kinda lame how it's set up that way, but it's w/e. the shiva fight itself more than made up for it imo lol. his unique move is busted as hell.
so yeah, i'd go in on a lower level save, choose one of the first two options to get a more "natural" experience of the final fights. then on a higher level save, beat shiva, choose the third option, and you should be good to go.
tbh the khonsu ra side questline was pretty neat. wish that got fleshed more because it would've been cool to see more of it.

Yeah the Khonsu sidequests one of the best ones, wasn't expecting Miyazu to be involved in it too since her appearances in the game have been very limited
Anyways im loving this game man, easily my game of the year and probably one of the best RPGs I have ever played. I don't know if essences are present in other megaten games but the freedom and customisation you are given with the addition of essences and miracles just from coming from SMT3 is actually so fun, I must have spent at least 20 hours just making s*** up in the world of shadows (hence my crazy playtime and not being done with the game yet
)
Also I know SMT4 had this system (I think?) and idk what public opinion is on this but I got introduced to the demon skill potential system and thats really f***ing cool. I think it adds a bit more depth to the game since stats and resistances aren't the only thing you look at anymore when fusing demons and you have to be more specific about what type of skills you are using on a demon unless you want to run into issues with mp management.
The qol improvement where instant death skills are just combined with the attack skills is pretty cool too (again idk if this was a thing in SMT4 or other megaten games but I didnt see it in SMT3)
I have seen quite a few comments online about how the story was disappointing but with my only experience with SMT being Nocturne I actually thought its been pretty cool so far and pretty in line with Nocturne but just more ambitious (would like to hear your thoughts on this). Might not be the best story but I really think the gameplay in this game one of the best in the JRPG genre.
Pretty sad that i'm almost at the end of this game but this game has made me really excited to get into the other megaten games like Strange Journey and Devil Survivor (after Endwalker ofc
)

no kidding man, i feel the same. i think i totaled like 70~ hours, and i kept pushing off playing because i didn't wanna finish the game lol. was a great experience all around.
i thought essences were a great idea. definitely adds a ton of customization and really just makes getting the demons you want with the skills you want, so much easier. same with keeping the skill potential/affinity. smt 4 & 4a had it is well and i enjoyed its presence in those two very much. almost forces you to have multiple demons
sure, the story isn't amazing (neither is nocturne's, which this is damn near a "sequel", if not, heavily inspired by nocturne), but i think everything else in the game was so f***ing cool so i don't think it's a huge issue and i'm someone who really really appreciates a good story. though i can understand the complaints regarding the story. i will say i do like the more story focused numbered games in the series (4 and 4a, particularly 4a -- f***ing love that game man. prob my favorite tbh). would have liked to see more of both of the law/chaos reps and especially nuwa|| :hnng: ||her and shohei were really cool. from what i read, seems like a good bit of the lore is optional and found from talking to NPCs around the world, which i did, but i know i missed a few things.
the exploration/overall gameplay is probably the best of the mainline numbered games, especially the exploration. i actually wanted to go out of my way to get all the mimans/glory box things, whereas with the other games, it's usually point a to point b, some side quests or grinding along the way, but that's about it. i lowkey miss the smirk mechanic, despite how busted it was in 4, but thought it was relatively well balanced in 4a. 4a added the damage effect to the hama/mudo skills, which made them not entirely useless, which is really nice.
think my only gripe is probably how easy the game is on normal. i realize there's hard mode, which i'll get around to, but man, i felt like i was playing on easy with how much stuff gets thrown at you (dampeners, spyglass working on bosses, very frequent mitama spawns w/o dlc, busted miracles, etc.). though the shiva fight was actually pretty difficult lol. pretty sure the most tries a boss took me was two, and that was because i wasn't aware of weaknesses, so once i fixed my party comp, it was all somewhat easy. obv still have to pay attention to what you're doing though.
trying to get myself to finish strange journey (possibly devil survivor) before endwalker drops since i still wanna play some smt games
but yeah, overall, i think they did a fantastic job with this game. sure there's some minor gripes, but i don't really care much about em. the experience was great and i just didn't want to finish the game because it was so fun. would say this edges out lost judgment for my goty this year.
