anyone who compares these two has a fundamental misunderstanding of conspiracy theories, pizza gate, and how these crimes happen.
Someone being accused of a pedophile isn’t as damming as you believe again R. Kelly, Bill Cosby, and 1 million other pedophiles still roam the Earth. You’re comparing The one time where hundreds of mentally ill terminally online people believed in a conspiracy based off of fabricated evidence and real life implications. This means fake emails, fake paper trails, which took a great amount of time to build this amount of trust into an idea.
Kendrick Lamar just said that he’s a pedophile, that’s it.
It is similar though because these rumors have been circulating for a long time so it has been developing in the mind of the public for quite a while (coinciding with a rise in general dislike for Drake).
Kendrick, being a well known and respected figure, claiming them as fact and exaggerating them further (going from Drake has had some incidents in the past that deserve side eye to directly saying that not only is he a pedophile but also a s***trafficker in a similar manner to Epstein AND saying that he is sick and he thinks men like him should die, which the clear implication as to why is because he’s saying drake is a pedophile) is what brought it to a head. Making people feel justified in their thoughts/actions and giving them the excuse to take it all as fact.
Things like that can very easily be the lighter that set off the explosion. It’s very similar to Trump’s actions leading up to/on January 6th. Play into rumors knowing there is a large segment of people who look up to you and will take everything you say as fact hoping for a huge outpouring of negative sentiment. The problem is, you just can’t control how far some of the people will go in expressing that.

I can see what you mean but these comparisons are not accurate. Trump explicitly stated that they were going to have a rally and storm the capital on January 6Th And there were A lot of rallies about this On that day and leading up.
Because something is a rumor for a while does not mean it has The same amount of viability as conspiracy theories that are rooted in physical action.

Yeah it’s not an exact parallel but still an adequate comparison for the point I think. High profile figure plays into unsubstantiated rumors that have been circulating a while, exaggerates them while riling up their base, and has drastic consequences (assuming it’s some loony fan who did this)
It’d happen to Drake because he’s an enormous public figure, has developed a villain persona with the public over the years, and is in the middle of an extremely public feud with another very public and influential figure who is regarded as a hero and both of them have a lot of people very emotionally invested in them
