He's a professor at the College I went to. And probably the greatest living short story writer. My favorite of his is Escape from Spiderhead.

I would say Cathedral is the only one I listed that is possibly a life changing short story. So if I had to recommend just one... However Carver's style of writing is pretty unusual and hard for some people to get into.

Signs and Symbols by Nabokov is the most well written of the ones I listed.

I really like the minimalist style of writing and the picaresque characters, I like the ending too and I would like to know what you think of it?

Cathedral is much less elusive than Carver's other fiction, at least with what he's trying to say. I'm always very moved by the ending.

Unlike some of the other short stories I mentioned, Carver always eschews verbose language and complex metaphors in favor of sparse minimalism and there's something very unpretentious about his writing style. There are shades of Hemingway to be found in it but I think Carver takes it a step further than Hemingway. To create a story so moving with such simple writing is really amazing.

It likely hasn't been translated into English which is why it's so hard to find.

Have you read Barn Burning? There's a great South Korean film released in 2018 based on this short story.

You should give him a try. Yes, he can be a little complicated, but the reason is because his stories are complex and thought-provoking. Always very interesting.

George saunders is my favorite short story writer

"I've already met the people I had to meet in this life," he told me. "I don't need anyone new." One of those times, the person
who invited him was a trademark and patents lawyer young enough to be
his daughter, one of those large-breasted girls who don't read and seem to go through an inevitable phase of curiosity about s***with older men. "And
you turned her down?" I asked. "Of course I turned her down. I told her I had a political meeting. 'What party?' she asked. 'The Onan ist Party,' I told her. And off she went quietly home and never bothered me again. I don't know if she found a dictionary in time, but she seems to have decided to leave me alone because she hasn't invited me to anything since. Or who knows, maybe there's a lawsuit against me, no? I can almost see the
headlines: PERVERTED PROFESSOR ASSAULTS YOUNG WOMAN
    WITH BIBLICAL POLYSYLLABLES."
