i was working in fast food when i was like 15 and dont remember it being controversial, like a quarter of the part time staff was also 15-16. it was a good experience for learning people/communication skills in a non-standard environment (esp since at that age you dont get much socialization outside of school) and also having a level of early independence outside of family
I worked at an amusement park when I was 14 for $5 an hour and hell yeah they were exploiting the f*** out of me but I was so happy to be there
Some kids want to work. And if they’re in a safe industry I see no issue with it. That being said we should reward that initiative with paying them a real living wage
And before anyone says fast food workers shouldn’t get a living wage, have you considered sucking me off?
I got my first job at 14 thru a city program in the summer.
It wasn't s***ty normal work, it was making a documentary about different s***.
At 15 the same program had me picking up trash in the street lmao.
16-17 I was pushing carts
But honestly it was dope because I was able to buy s*** that I wanted.
When you have absolutely no expenses, pretty much all the money you make can exclusively be used to buy stuff that your parents won't buy you.
I remember trying to apply at McDonald's at 15-16 cuz that's how desperate I was for my own money n those Mfers hired some 40 year old dude over me
It's crazy cuz working as a teen is such a norm but I swear there was a era between like 2008-2013 where jobs were basically only hiring adults and werent giving any leeway to younger teens. Probably because of that recession.
2 hours max, with consent ofc
Child labor is one of the oldest tricks in the book for corporations to utilize outdated state laws and pay as little as possible for labor
But of course this sxn throws a parade anytime an adult punches a kid so I can imagine how this thread will go
It only looks bad because the kid is a late bloomer
14 year olds looking like that ain’t normal
Lmao they got 14-16 year olds working after school in Publix where I live
It's not out of the ordinary
its just a side hustle
you can only work these jobs w/ a work permit which the school has to renew based on your grades etc
What he need to buy at 14 tho
Paying momma bills
Video games, streetwear, etc
Thats when i bought when i was 14 lmao

I tried to apply for fast food at 15 a bunch of stupid ass interviews and no one hired me ….
But ironically a neighbor trusted me enough to work as a plumber for him barely did a interview
