half my friends are leb + local population in my area
Arabic easily. Grew up speaking and listening to it. Best language ever but there’s a lot of dialects
word
italian is probably the better of the two as a base to learn other romance languages but spanish is more widely spoken so OP’s choice
also ignore anyone who says english is an ugly language, people love to hate. It was Borges favourite and that says it all
lol great perspective
if u have no connection to arabic or farsi, spiritually / culturally / etc then french
you'll probably see progression faster and keep u motivated with french. i can imagine plateuing in arabic quite quickly and if u dont have family / friends to pracfice with, it will just be frustrating
Arabic easy @op
dammn i wanna learn arabic but cannot think of a strategy - i checked reddit over there, everyone saying different things
u learn arabic and french and u can speak to so many different cultures across the african continent if that interests u

Damn I'm not really sure how to start beyond the usual suggestions
Do you have people around you that speak Arabic?
Even though it's the truth it's hard to see all the posts about how difficult it can to be learn languages that don't have anything in common with English
This is something I think a lot about too because my father destroyed my ability to speak my native language due to him trying to control my mother at every turn and him thinking it was better to focus on English at the time (I wish so much that I could go back in time and tell him his dumbass that kids learn languages extremely easily and that he could have spoken to me in English while my mom spoke to me in Tigrinya)
Dude eventually abandoned us after we learned he had started a whole other family in our homeland in secret in part because my brothers and I can't speak Tigrinya
Tigrinya is a relatively small language and doesn't have that many resources for learning it and has nothing in common with English so a lot of times I get really down on my ability to speak it one day
But one of my biggest goals is to one day be able to speak to my mom in Tigrinya regularly and to be able to visit Eritrea without needing to be babysat so I'll make it happen. There are so many people in this world that learn a language that's way different than their first language in adulthood and even more than one, so I gotta believe I can do it too
