Since music is so subjective, is it useless to s*** on music they don't like? Or does criticising it actually push the music forward? Should we just let the ones who enjoy the music enjoy it, even though we don't like it?

Everytime I'm on this site and there's a polarizing or new artist, a lot of people will just start s***ting on them while the other half starts defending. Creating this never ending stan war.

tbh i feel like fantano or any big publication s***ting on any underground releases is useless imo cos it doesn’t help anyone if their gonna drag negative attention towards an underground release

Yea I feel that. Tbh when I was watching him, I'd only watch him when hes wearing a yellow shirt cause tbh I don't want him talk about a record he don't like. Like I'd rather get put on by music he likes rather then not listening to music he doesn't like.

Like I remember I didn't listen to peep untill he died just cause he didn't like it and I was put off by it. Even tho I quite like several of his tracks after listening to it

Most of the time there’s nothing “useless” about publications/critics reviewing music, because there clearly must’ve been some impetus for them to check out the project in the first place

criticism is good to an extent. there's definitely people who manipulate systems and take advantage of certain things, etc...

but if you don't like an artist that's adored by millions, I thinks its pretty bold for anyone to say 'they suck'
