Not that this is even a possibility, and this isn’t a Kendrick hate thread because I f*** with the new album (8/10ish ). But seeing the reviews an hour or two after it dropped giving 10/10 scores was just laughable.
Barely enough time to even finish the album let alone review it. Since then there hasn’t been a single 10/10 score! These reviews were on the strength of the artist being a critical darling rather than the actual music.
And I know stans are gonna argue the critics had it a week or two before the drop, but if that was actually the case you really think we’d have known as little as we did the night it actually dropped? That there were no leaks? Not even track names or features?
How can a double album with as many themes as was covered here be reviewed accurately within a few hours. Even if they actually listened to the album (which is doubtful) how can they form an opinion that quickly?
y’all don’t wait a week before giving your opinions 😂
We’re also not professional reviewers and the threads we comment in are first impression threads
I think they get it before it drops so the review can be put on release day. Similar to video games. At least I hope so.

“professional reviewer”

I really don’t think they did here. P4K is one of the most well known and they didn’t drop it on day one. Also there would have been more leaked info or even an album leak when an album is that anticipated
I don't think professional reviewers should wait a week to post their reviews but I think we can all agree that day 1 reviews are f***ing ed imo

Niggas "listen" to a 1 hour album in 30 mins and be like "it's mid"
As in it’s their day job
I get what you’re saying and I ain’t discrediting their work because I know how that type of field is..
But they aren’t any more qualified than myself or half the people on this site bar an liberal arts degree and networking
That’s all to say I don’t care enough to judge when/how they review.
Back then, reviewers got an early copy a week before and released the review on worldwide release. They still do that?
They should be made to stay on KTT/Reddit and wherever else nerds write thesis statements on music tryna feel intellectual instead of just enjoying it

That’s not my point though. My point is that if you’re gonna publish a review that lives on the internet forever, you should at least put more thought into it than dropping it an hour after the drop for click bait

Vince Staples the only artist I know of that gives early album copies to publications to review

That’s their own problem if they wanna write rushed reviews not ours to worry about 😂

I don’t think they tend to now with how easy things can leak on the internet. There’s no way this had this early and we knew so little about it right down to the second it dropped
I don't take reviews too serious anyway but it's a good point. First impression is one thing, full blown review is another
